Welwyn Garden City is a Hit with North London Buyers

A local Welwyn Garden City estate agent is reporting a surge in buyers from North London looking to move to a new development in the city in order to benefit from more affordable homes and a better quality of life whilst retaining a convenient commute into Central London.

Discussing Crest Nicholson Chiltern’s Appleby Grove development, Rob Matthewson, Branch Manager at Connells Welwyn Garden City, said: “The property market in Welwyn Garden City is certainly very dynamic at the moment and has been really flying for the last few months. We’ve seen a recent surge of interest from families currently residing in areas like Harrow and Barnet who are considering moving to Welwyn Garden City to benefit from the more affordable house prices as well as the good local schools and the more relaxed surroundings.

“Developments like Crest Nicholson’s Appleby Grove are proving especially popular as they have the added benefit of offering brand new, well-designed homes in an excellent location. One of the key drivers for young families moving here is the development’s proximity to a number of very good local schools as well as the fact that Appleby Grove is only a short distance from the train station and town centre.”

Appleby Grove is located on Herns Lane and comprises a selection of two, three and four-bedroom homes. The homes traditionally designed homes showcase architectural features such as weatherboarding and bay windows and are surrounded by landscaped green spaces to create an attractive streetscene and foster the development of a vibrant community.

Amanda Benjamin, Sales & Marketing Director, Crest Nicholson Chiltern, comments: “Appleby Grove has been designed to appeal to buyers looking to live in a friendly community setting whilst still having all the attractions of Welwyn Garden City right on the doorstep. We’ve had a lot of interest from a wide range of buyers, but especially from families who like the design of the houses and of the development as a whole. The fact that we are able to offer Help to Buy as well as Part Exchange on some of the homes is an added bonus for purchasers making home ownership a more realistic proposition for many.”

Appleby Grove benefits from a tranquil location just over a mile from the town centre and an easily commutable distance from London. Plenty of local shops and services are within walking distance. With an excellent choice of schools, shops and leisure facilities all around, and the green hills of the Hertfordshire countryside only a little further, the development has something to suit every interest.

As a new community planned for contemporary life, Welwyn Garden City was designed to have good transport connections from the very beginning. It is therefore very easy to travel around in sustainable ways without having to resort to the car.

Cycle storage is provided for residents at Appleby Grove, and cyclists can take the Cole Green Way, which runs past the development, a mainly traffic-free route which links to the cycle network leading into the town centre.

For residents preferring to travel by car, the A1(M) is just two miles from Appleby Grove, and from there it is six miles to St Albans, twelve miles to Luton and approximately twenty miles to London. The London Underground network can be joined at High Barnet on the Northern Line, about ten miles away.

The main train station is approximately ten minutes by bus or car from Appleby Grove and offers services into London Kings Cross in approximately 25 minutes or Moorgate in the City in approximately 49 minutes.
