Located in the East of England Bedfordshire the county town of Bedford is one of England’s smallest counties. It boarders Cambridge to the North-East, Northamptonshire to the North, Buckinghamshire to the West and Hertfordshire to the South-East. As it is situated an almost identical distance from Oxford and Cambridge it is a popular destination for visitors. Along with the town itself and neighbouring Elstow, Biddenham and Kempston form the Bedford urban area.

Transport in Bedfordshire

If driving, London is 50 miles from Bedford on the A6 London/Carlisle road, whereas Cambridge is 40 minutes to the East via the A428/A45. To the West you can access Milton Keynes, Buckingham and Oxford via the A428/A421/A422. Alternatively, both the urban and rural area of Bedford are covered by a wide network of bus routes operates mostly by Stagecoach or Grant Palmer.
