Highlands Park is in a fantastic location with the countryside right on its doorstep, and the development has a ‘Trim Trail’ running around the outside which connects up with various footpaths leading off in different directions, both toward Henley and away from it. There’s also a huge field, called a dog run, so we find the area around here is much better for our dog.

I think we all now have a greater appreciation of the outdoors, so living near open green space was a top priority for us. After exploring the nature trails of the 122 acre country park nearby, we just fell in love with the area. It was also really important for us to find a home that gave us our own outdoor space to enjoy. Having our own balcony is definitely a highlight of our new home and since moving in we have planted lots of flowers and we’re growing our own fruits and vegetables. We’ve also bought some new rattan furniture which has created a really nice outdoor space for us.

With my son now living and working as an architect in London, I didn’t need as much space anymore but still wanted to be within commutable distance to the city for when he comes to stay, or I go to visit him. I was also looking to get more value for money. For the cost of a one bedroom home in Tring I was able to purchase a two bedroom property at Shipston Gardens, while saving a few thousand pounds by taking advantage of the stamp duty holiday.

I was house sharing with two other young professionals when Covid hit last year. Suddenly we weren’t just living together but working together as well. This new way of life really pushed me to find my own home. But while owning a property had always been my dream, I wasn’t planning to buy anytime soon so I hadn’t saved up much money. Crest Nicholson’s Home Reach scheme meant that I didn’t need a large deposit and I was able to get onto the property ladder a lot sooner. That is the beauty of shared ownership, and it really suited me.

Our growing family made me re-evaluate what I was looking for in a home, and a spacious garden and excellent local schools were at the top of my list. Hygge Park has everything we wanted and more. There’s a number of great schools within a mile of the development, which are rated good or outstanding by Ofsted, and that ultimately won us over.

I have always wanted to step onto the property ladder and, thanks to my friend’s helping hand, I was able to save money each month and put it towards my home saving pot. I knew I wanted to get out of London and live near green open spaces and following countless searches of new builds I stumbled upon Bilham Farm which ticked all of my boxes. As soon as I entered the wider Finberry development the tree-lined avenues struck me, and I instantly knew it was the place where I wanted to live.

We absolutely love the community bond we have developed while living at Finberry, so when we decided to look for a larger house, we knew we wanted to purchase at the same development. We are lucky enough to have great neighbours who are able to babysit Scarlett and Oscar every now and again and we wouldn’t want to give up those relationships; we know that if we ever need anything we can count on our community!

What really stood out for us was the quality of the homes. We’d been house hunting for a while, and nothing really compared to Crest Nicholson. The home ticked all of the boxes, it is extremely spacious, we have an extra room to convert into a guest bedroom, and a lovely back garden which we’ll be able to use year-round. A new home meant it was hassle-free, we got to move in straight away, and the home is much more energy efficient.

If I was renting, it would have been very hard to save up for a deposit for my first home. Thanks to our parents’ helping hand, and the Government backed Help to Buy: Equity Loan scheme, Lucy and I were able to afford the deposit. We were also able to take advantage of the stamp duty holiday, which made it even easier for us to become homeowners.
