Article image Sophie Malcolm has loved Penarth for years, often visiting the area with her family, enjoying walks around the town and marina. After deciding to move to the area but missing out on a home at Crest Nicholson’s Penarth Heights development two years ago, she tells us why she’s so thrilled to now be the owner of a three bedroom townhouse at the iconic development.

Sophie explained: “I moved back to the Cardiff area seven years ago after living overseas, and I instantly fell in love with Penarth and started to look into the options to live there. Penarth Heights fast became top of my list but sadly I missed out on buying one of the homes available during the first phase of build because they sold so fast.

“This didn’t put me off though, it just made me even more determined to make sure I didn’t miss out second time around.  I even moved to an apartment in Cardiff Bay to get myself on the Cardiff property ladder and make sure I was in a prime position to move when the next phase of homes became available. As soon as I heard they were coming soon I instantly put my apartment on the market and my name down on the list at Penarth Heights!”

Sophie’s decision to buy in Cardiff Bay proved a fruitful one, as recent positive shifts in the property market meant she was in a position to upsize when it came to her dream home at Penarth Heights. The three bedroom Maritime townhouse was just what Sophie was looking for: “I fell in love with the house straight away.  The design and layout are beautiful and perfect for me. It has three good sized bedrooms and a garden, something I really missed when living in my apartment. The fact that all of the homes at Penarth Heights have a contemporary neutral finish is a real plus point as I can put my own stamp on it. The houses have also been built to a really high specification and are incredibly well insulated meaning I should be able to save money on energy bills too.”

The sale of Sophie’s apartment in Cardiff Bay happened far quicker than anticipated so the pressure to move out and complete her purchase at Penarth Heights could have been quite daunting.  But she needn’t have worried as the team at Crest Nicholson were on hand to make sure the process ran smoothly. Sophie, continued: “The ladies at Crest Nicholson were brilliant from start to finish. They guided me through the whole process, keeping me up to date with developments on the build and I felt totally confident. It really has been a dream come true!”

Prices at Penarth Heights using Help to Buy – Wales currently start from £122,400 for a two bedroom Bayswater apartment and £244,000 for a three bedroom Phoenix house.
