Award-winning developer Crest Nicholson is investing in the local community of Melbourne by supporting the much-loved rugby club with a donation of £5,000. The monies have been used to contribute towards new club assets, such as a new electronic scoreboard, at the club’s home ground in Melbourne, Derbyshire.

The club attracts around 150 players to its regular coaching sessions and boasts teams from aged six to over 18’s. It’s a much-loved part of the community and has been in existence since 1982.  Melbourne RFC plays its home games at Cockshut Lane, just a short drive away from the recently announced new development in Ashby de le Zouch by Crest Nicholson, which will be located on Smisby Road and will bring 107 new homes to the area.

Amanda Benjamin, Sales and Marketing Director at Crest Nicholson Midlands, said:
“It’s a privilege to support the Melbourne RFC and we’re looking forward to seeing the players add many points onto the new scoreboard.

“As a responsible housebuilder, we recognise the importance of supporting organisations such as Melbourne RFC and we’re committed to supporting the local communities where we build and work.”

Peter Ilott, Melbourne RFC Manager, said: “Crest Nicholson’s generous sponsorship has helped us purchase a brand-new electronic scoreboard. For a local company to invest its money into our club really means a lot from everyone involved within Melbourne RFC. We're thrilled to have Crest Nicholson’s support on this and we look forward to working with them in the future.”
