Crest Nicholson has now launched for sale the first homes at its much-anticipated development, Kilnwood Vale in Faygate. As a new community comprising of 2,500 homes west of Crawley, the site is one of the first in the UK to benefit from the Government’s Get Britain Building programme, having received part of a £2.3million investment via the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) to build new homes.
The first phase will deliver a collection 291 new homes and will include two bedroom apartments and two, three and four-bedroom houses, as well as a new community area, known as the Gateway Village Green, and a range of other municipal facilities including a neighbourhood park, play and sports area. Additional homes will then be delivered across a further four phases.
Kilnwood Vale is thoroughly contemporary in concept but also draws on the principles of the Garden City movement, with tree-lined streets and generous amounts of green open space. External infrastructure, including cycle paths and bridleways will also be implemented from an early stage, fostering opportunities to use the wide outdoor spaces, and facilitating accessible links into Bewbush and across the A264 into Buchan Country Park.
The first phase has received funding from the HCA, the government’s national housing and land agency, which is investing £570m nationally through the Get Britain Building Programme, enabling 12,000 new homes to be built across the country.
Ken Glendinning, Head of Area for Sussex at the HCA said: “The HCA has invested approximately £2.4m* of government cash into Kilnwood Vale helping our partners Crest Nicholson to deliver more than 100 new houses for the local community here including 42 in the first phase for those on the housing needs list. In turn this is enabling building work to start for the wider development, which is not only great news for the local economy, but great news for people looking for a new home in the area.”
Long term, additional facilities planned for Kilnwood Vale include local convenience stores, a library, sports pavilion, healthcare centre, primary school and office space for small and start-up businesses, and will be delivered over the course of the wider development programme.
Stephen Stone, Chief Executive of Crest Nicholson, commented: “The launch of Kilnwood Vale signifies the culmination of much time and effort invested in ensuring that the development will integrate seamlessly into the local community. Furthermore, it has been a priority to guarantee that the site is equipped with a robust infrastructure underpinned with lifestyle and leisure facilities that is capable of cultivating and sustaining a thriving neighbourhood and community spirit that will only grow as the development matures.
“With the development now well underway, it is exciting to see Kilnwood Vale starting to benefit the local area, and ultimately deliver a tangible boost to Crawley as a whole.”
Stephen added: “Providing new housing, which is in such demand in the South East, in partnership with the public sector is a key objective for us, and the scale of this site means that it will have an immediate and positive impact on the local housing market. Kilnwood Vale is more than a development of 2,500 homes – it is part of our overarching commitment to develop a prosperous community that brings new, long-term opportunities, including job creation, to the local area and encourages businesses to invest in the local economy, making it a desirable environment in which to live.”
