Local housebuilder Crest Nicholson have donated £500 to the charity Swan lifeline on behalf of their Windsor Gate development in Windsor to support their work in rescuing sick and injured swans and other waterfowl.
The donation to Swan Lifeline follows an incident where the Windsor Gate sales team contacted the charity after discovering that the mother duck and ducklings that were nesting in the show home garden had left over night, leaving behind one loan duckling.
The small and vulnerable duckling, affectionately named Olive by the team, was distressed so the team transported them to the Swan Lifeline centre, just a few miles from the development. Swan Lifeline placed Olive with three other rescued ducklings for company, where they will be cared for until ready to be released back onto the river.
Claudia Jones from Swan Lifeline said:
“Olive is doing amazing and is very happy with its three new siblings from other rescues. We are so grateful for Crest Nicholson’s donation which will cover the cost of feeding our rescues over the busy summer period.”
Eileen Guihen, Sales & Marketing Director for Crest Nicholson South added:
“We were delighted to be able to donate to Swan Lifeline to help support their work having seen first hand the work they do. Supporting local charities is just one way we aim to deliver positive impacts in the communities in which we operate across the South of England.”
