Crest Nicholson forged a partnership with the Children’s Charity Variety in 2005. During this time the Group has raised over £2 million for the charity and donated 42 sunshine coaches.
Crest Nicholson has supported Variety, the Children’s Charity since 2005. In this time the Group has raised over £2 million! This has gone towards supporting the work of the charity which aims to positively improve the lives of children and young people throughout the UK who are sick, disabled or disadvantaged.
Variety provides both practical help including Variety Sunshine Coaches, Variety Wheelchairs & specialist equipment through their grant programmes, as well as creating memorable childhood experiences in their Variety at Work Scheme.
Over the years Crest Nicholson employees have shown great support and determination in raising money for Variety, including; organising sponsored bike rides from London to Paris, Christmas Balls, awards dinners and mountain treks. Crest Nicholson suppliers, contractors and other stakeholders have also helped contribute towards this fundraising.
Much of the money that Variety raises is used to fund small projects that make a big difference. Such as providing therapeutic play equipment, new clothing, bedding or helping with house adaptations.
Mike Haszko, Variety’s Head of Corporate Fundraising, commented “We’re incredibly grateful to Crest Nicholson for all their invaluable support. The generous donations they have given us have been crucial in enabling us to help improve the lives of children, and has provided the funding for additional Sunshine coaches, sensory equipment and wheelchairs.”

The children at St Thomas CE Primary School, Birmingham were delighted to receive their Sunshine Coach, allowing them to travel to football, swimming and experience activities otherwise inaccessible. Watch the video to hear what the children had to say themselves.
With the money that has been raised to date by the Group, Variety, the Children’s Charity has been able to purchase 42 Sunshine Coaches for schools across the country. These instrumental coaches give disabled children access to educational and recreational trips, which without these vehicles would not be possible.
In September 2018, seven teams of Crest Nicholson employees scaled the heights of Snowdonia as part of the Housebuilder Mountain Marathon, hiking well over 26.2 miles across two days, with over 1,000m of elevation each day.
Not only did the Crest Nicholson teams survive the elements and some pretty hairy descents, but they also raised an incredible £30,500+ for the Youth Adventure Trust. An enormous thank you to everyone who took part and to those who sponsored our teams!
In doing so we will help to transform the lives of 45 young people who, with the help of the Youth Adventure Trust, will learn how to face their own personal challenges so that they can fulfil their potential in the future.
