Having lived in rented accommodation for 14 years, one Bath resident decided it was time to take the plunge and buy his first home.
So when Charles Duance started to look for somewhere to buy, a number of factors steered him towards the city’s leading new property development.
Key to his decision was the fact that he wanted a hassle free move and a place where he could literally just move into without having to worry about any expensive repairs, upgrades or decorating bills.
As a result, Charles’ search has seen him buy a brand new, two-bedroom apartment at Crest Nicholson’s Bath Riverside where he is now lapping up the lifestyle of the city’s premier property development.
An added bonus for Charles was the fact that he was able to take advantage of the Government’s Help-to-Buy scheme which meant he was able to borrow 20% of the property’s price on a 0% interest rate*.
Commenting on his move Charles said: “I’d been living in Lower Oldfield Park and also close to the A4 in rented property for quite some time and was keen to get a place I could call my own.
“I had seen and heard a lot about Bath Riverside so thought I’d take a look to see what was on offer. Having visited the development and seen first-hand what had been built I decided that was the place for me.
“I really didn’t want an older property as I knew it would come saddled with a host of possible issues. Also, going for something new meant lower running costs and a complete blank canvass for me to make my own mark.
“I’m really pleased with my new pad. The finish is excellent and it’s like coming home to a high-quality hotel every evening!
“I also like the fact that the centre of Bath is about a 10 minute walk away. Bath Riverside’s location makes the whole of the city very walkable.
“I’m very happy in my new home and have already got an eye on one of the three-bedroom townhouses. But that will probably be in a couple of years’ time.
“In the meantime I’m going to enjoy the fact that I’m not paying rent to someone as well as the freedom and lifestyle living here brings.”
Mary Timlin, sales and marketing director at Crest Nicholson said: “Charles is a great example of how the Help-to-Buy scheme is enabling first-time buyers get their foot on the property ladder.
“We’re delighted he is enjoying the fantastic location and high-end specification of his new apartment. The fact that Charles is already thinking about upgrading is I believe great testament to what Crest Nicholson has achieved here in Bath and we’ll be more than happy to help when the time is right.”
