Yesterday (Thursday 4th October), the Mayor of Stowmarket, Councillor Mrs Anne Whybrow, officially opened The Laurels, the latest phase of new homes at Crest Nicholson’s Cedars Park development in Stowmarket. The occasion also marked the commencement of work on the development’s Community Centre, which is due to open in May 2013. Cllr Whybrow was joined by James Moody, Managing Director of Crest Nicholson Eastern.
Guests gathered for Cllr Whybrow to perform the official duties and cut the ribbon to declare the new phase officially open. Visitors were also given a tour of the three and four-bedroom show homes.
Cllr Whybrow said: “I am delighted to be here today to officially open The Laurels at Cedars Park. This new phase will provide a superb mix of housing built to the standard we have come to expect from Crest Nicholson. With 168 new homes ranging from two-bedroom cottages up to four-bedroom family houses, The Laurels will provide homes for local residents that suit a wide range of budgets.
“I am thrilled that the new and existing residents here will reap the benefits of the new community centre, which will provide a hub for the community. No community can thrive without an expanding economy and it is fantastic that Crest Nicholson continues to build here, providing not only homes for local residents, but also employment opportunities. I wish them the very best of luck with The Laurels.”
James Moody, Managing Director for Crest Nicholson Eastern, said: “I’d like to thank the Mayor for visiting us and for declaring The Laurels officially open. Crest Nicholson has been delivering new homes at Cedars Park for over 15 years now and it is wonderful to see how the site has grown and developed over time. Today, Cedars Park is a busy, vibrant community and encapsulates the meaning of a sustainable environment, which is clearly demonstrated by the popularity of the homes and how quickly they sell.
“The new Community Centre, which will comprise a large hall, kitchen, bar and changing facilities and will be available to residents in which to hold activities and events, is set to play a key role at the development. Over half the time slots have already been allocated, with activities such as a pre-school, Thai-chi and exercise classes scheduled. “We have worked closely with the local Resident’s Association, Mid-Suffolk District Council and local councillors since day one of the Community Centre’s inception; it’s a prime example of Crest Nicholson working with the local community in order to respond to and cater for its needs.”
The Laurels consists of 14 different house styles, including a mix of detached, semi-detached and terraced houses. Most of the homes will have an open-plan kitchen and dining area and include an en suite bathroom to the master bedroom. All homes will also benefit from outdoor space.
A three-bedroom Chelsworth and a four-bedroom Elsenham showhome are available to view at The Laurels. Both houses benefit from open-plan kitchen/dining rooms as well as a separate living room and direct access to the garden, providing plenty of space for families. A cloakroom and storage cupboard complete the ground floor. Along with the family bathroom, all bedrooms, including the master bedroom which affords an en-suite bathroom, are situated on the first floor, ensuring a separate sleeping sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the house.
Homes at The Laurels will be finished to the high quality associated with Crest Nicholson, especially as Vince Bamonte, Site Manager at Cedars Park, has won a ‘Pride in the Job’ award at the NHBC’s annual Awards for the last two years running. Properties come complete with the National House Building Council (NHBC) 10 year warranty providing ultimate peace of mind as well as a dedicated customer care service team for two years after the purchase. Crest Nicholson homes are perfect for a lifestyle that is low in maintenance and high in style. Homes encompass double glazing and high levels of wall and loft insulation, making Crest Nicholson homes much more energy efficient than older properties.
