Tadpole Garden Village, Crest Nicholson’s highly anticipated new community of homes for Swindon, was officially unveiled yesterday (Thursday 16th October).

Stephen Stone, Chief Executive at Crest Nicholson, welcomed local councillors, officers and school representatives, as well as suppliers, contractors and consultants involved with the project, to a special launch event at Blunsdon House Hotel, followed by a tour of the first homes available at the development.

Situated on the rural fringe of North Swindon, Tadpole Garden Village will combine the very best of town and country living. When completed, this exciting and innovative development will become a distinct community of nearly 1,700 homes set within 179 hectares of tranquil countryside, offering spectacular views of where the Wiltshire Downs meet the Cotswolds.  It will also boast new community facilities – including a primary school, shops, playing fields, community building and doctors or dentist surgery – all linked through a comprehensive pedestrian and cycle network to ensure easy access for residents.

Stephen Stone, Chief Executive at Crest Nicholson, said: “We are very proud of Tadpole Garden Village.  It is one of the first developments of its kind in the country and an exemplar of the benefits of low-density family housing. Tadpole Garden village will boast tree-lined avenues, large front and rear gardens, generous on-site parking and a wealth of green open space, and as such is an excellent example of the best way forward for our communities. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Council and everyone involved in the project thus far for their support in creating this very exciting new place to live.”

Within Tadpole Garden Village, there will be 70 hectares of green space including a new town park, sports pitches, children’s play areas and allotments. In addition, Crest Nicholson has allocated 50 hectares of land for a dedicated nature park, which is being developed in partnership with the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust.

Stephen Stone, added: “The nature park is a key part of our vision to provide a Garden Village inspired scheme that promotes a healthy environment for residents.  We are working in partnership with the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust to ensure the park is managed primarily for the benefit of biodiversity and conservation, as well as the enjoyment of residents and visitors.”

Tadpole Gate is the first phase of homes to be built at Tadpole Garden Village and will comprise of 97 high specification houses, all with curb appeal, comfort and energy efficiency at the heart of their design.
