Just three days after returning from their honeymoon in the Maldives, newlyweds Samier and Jordan Abousaada moved into their new home at Crest Nicholson’s Totteridge Place development in Whetstone. They purchased their two-bedroom apartment using the government-backed London Help to Buy scheme, with Jordan saying that “having a new home to come back to after our honeymoon was the perfect start to our new married life.”

Jordan, a video producer, and her new husband Samier, a senior management consultant, both work in central London, and found Totteridge Place to be the ideal location for their first family home. Samier said buying a new build “was brilliant, because there was so much more we could do” with a blank canvas. Since moving in, the couple have been focused on creating a “cool and quirky” interior design to suit their own tastes, incorporating modern fixtures and lighting from John Lewis and West Elms to give it a fresh, contemporary feel. From the Nobilia kitchen appliances to Villroy and Boch fixtures and fittings in the bathrooms, “the great thing about buying with Crest Nicholson is that you know you’re getting the quality” in your home, Jordan commented.

The size of the apartment was a real selling point for the couple, which boasts a spacious open plan living area that Samier said was “really appealing.” Both bedrooms are very similar in size, which meant they didn’t have to compromise on space in their second bedroom. Jordan added that she “loves the kitchen, because there is tons of storage and the open plan space is just perfect for entertaining.” As Samier and Jordan were buying off-plan, Crest Nicholson also offered an exclusive hard-hat tour, so they could see their future home take shape and help bring their vision to life.

The newlyweds are planning to start a family soon, so when choosing their first home together “locality was everything.” Jordan grew up in nearby Hadley Wood and Samier in Edgware, meaning both were already invested in staying in the North London area. Totteridge Place “ticked all the boxes in terms of location,” Samier comments, as it is situated just a five-minute walk from the northern line tube station, Totteridge & Whetstone, and connects residents to London St. Pancras International in just 25-minutes.

The couple feel very lucky because their North London base is also surrounded by “lots of greenery which is lovely.”  Their apartment is just a stone’s throw away from a wide range of amenities such as a local Waitrose, M&S, convenience stores and an “amazing selection of restaurant and dining out options that we are steadily working our way through” Samier added.

When reflecting on their overall buying experience, one of the most reassuring parts of the moving process with Crest Nicholson was the guaranteed two-year NHBC warranty. Samier said they received “incredible support” from the on-site team at Totteridge Place, and were really impressed by the customer service manager and level of aftercare, which “has really stood out as a key contributing factor to our overall satisfaction.”

Prices for two-bedroom apartments at Stanhope House, Totteridge Place, start from £589,950, with selected plots available using the Help to Buy scheme. Three-bedroom townhouses begin at £799,950.
