Kathrin Marshall and her husband Phillip have recently upsized to a new three-bedroom home at Crest Nicholson’s Lancaster Grange, Bricket Wood, ahead of the birth of their first child. The couple sold their previous apartment in South West London in order to have more space and accommodate their growing family in a convenient and well-connected location like St. Albans.
With Phillip’s family based in Hertfordshire, St. Albans was an ideal choice for the couple, who both work in central London and didn’t want to be too far from their family. They really wanted a new build home after previously living in a new one-bedroom apartment in Wandsworth. The unique flat roof and spacious living arrangements at Lancaster Grange captured exactly what they were looking for. Kathrin said they immediately found the modern architecture appealing and thought the spacious room sizes were “very different to what else is out there” on the local property market.
The specific interior features that really stood out to the couple included the skylights in all the bathrooms, which are “very bright” Kathrin said, and illuminate its luxurious, high quality finish. All three bedrooms offer the family lots of space to grow, including room for a nursery, as well as a wide hallway that will be perfect for a pram. The couple are also looking forward to spending more time in their garden next spring, which Kathrin said is a “good space for entertaining” and will be a great way to “sit outside and chill together” as a family.
This development also appealed to them thanks to its “hidden location” Kathrin commented, which is situated close to the BRE Innovation Park and offers a quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle of the town centre nearby. Kathrin and Phillip also benefit from being close to a host of local amenities, including a Post Office, range of convenience stores and a High Street, with Kathrin saying it was “really handy to have everything you need” all in one place.
Lancaster Grange also offers the couple a similar commute time to their previous address in Wandsworth. Kathrin now has a 45-minute drive to work and her husband Phillip’s train journey to London Blackfriars takes just over an hour, which is roughly the same time as before, however the couple both prefer their current journey. Residents at this development have access to a number of excellent transport options into London, with London Euston only 37-minutes away from Bricket Wood train station and just 54-minutes for those looking to drive into central London via the M1.
