Crest Nicholson’s Eastern development Finberry has just celebrated its first birthday and what a year it has been – but there’s many more exciting things happening in the coming months for new and future residents to look forward.

Since its launch last year, Finberry has firmly established itself as one of the most desirable commuter towns in the country – cementing Ashford’s place among the most popular countryside locations to live for those looking to travel into London for work.

This impact was reiterated when the town was recently named by Halifax among the Top 50 places to live in the country at No38 on the list.

Finberry is a traditional collection of two and three bedroom cottages and four bedroom family homes surrounded by beautiful countryside and within easy reach of Ashford town centre. Over the past 12 months, the development has blossomed into a flourishing community, with 63 properties already sold.

There are currently just three properties available to reserve at Finberry. They are the four bedroom ‘Gosfield’, ‘Hampton’ and ‘Hadleigh’ properties, priced at £390,000, £410,000 and £355,000 respectively.

One of the most unique attractions of the site has been the brand new art installations which have been unveiled at the site. They include a flock of geese in flight – a contemporary installation which has quickly become a recognisable local landmark – and two state-of-the-art black steel panels on either side of a plain brick structure at the entrance to the development.

The contrast between the materials on the entrance art generates an image of two swans floating on smooth dark waters, creating a sense of calm and homecoming when residents drive into the development. In contrast, when residents depart, the installation displays a computer generated image of rippling water, again conveying a sense of tranquillity. Both the swans and rippling water are visible at night with gentle lighting.

These artworks are among the latest additions to the site – but Crest Nicholson Eastern have a string of exciting developments in the pipeline which will benefit residents and further enhance the community.

One of the biggest changes will be the opening of the new Finberry Primary School, for which parents can now apply to send their children to start off-site from September 2015 with a planned on-site opening in September 2016. To register or for more information contact David Adams at Another important introduction for families will be the launch of a new play area and work to open the Captain’s Wood for public use.

The heart of the village will also be transformed with the opening of new shops and the building of a brand new high street which will eventually be opened to a bus service linking the site with Park Farm and the town centre next year.

All of these steps – coupled with the building of 245 new dwellings, subject to planning permission – will see Finberry go from strength to strength.

What’s more, moving to Finberry has never been easier thanks to Crest Nicholson, with all of the two and three bedroom cottages and four bedroom family homes in this flourishing community of new homes available with Help To Buy, making it possible to buy a new home worth up to £600,000 with just a five per cent deposit.

And with the new stamp duty rates, buyers can save £2600 on the cost of buying a luxury four bedroom house such as The Gosfield, which is priced at £370,000.

Accountant Neil Jennings recently purchased a three bedroom property at Finberry and has been extremely happy with his new home. He recalled: “I spent a lot of time looking at several housebuilders and Crest Nicholson was by far the best quality I came across, inside and out.

“Plus my home here is incredibly eco-friendly; my combined gas and electricity monthly charge is around £55. And that bill is due to reduce as the warmer weather kicks in!

“I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Finberry to anyone considering buying a new property. I’m really happy with my purchase and am already looking forward to buying another property on the development in two years’ time!”

Annette Cole, Crest Nicholson Eastern’s Sales & Marketing Director, said residents have lots more to look forward to. She added: “Finberry has flourished in its first year, growing into an idyllic community but there are lots more exciting plans on the horizon as we expand and develop.”
