Peter and Betty Wright have just moved into a brand-new two-bedroom house at Green oaks, the second phase of Crest Nicholson’s Finberry, in Ashford, Kent. The couple, aged 72 and 82, have been married for 35 years and have lived in Ashford for all of their married lives.
After a long time living in an older property with a solid fuel heating system, Peter and Betty were looking for a more manageable home that was easy to maintain. The couple used to drive past Finberry, and the beautiful landscaping, ornamental lakes and green open spaces surrounding the site caught their eye.
They bought a two-bedroom property, The Thurnham. The house benefits from a traditional exterior inspired by the local Kentish style, in addition to two good sized bedrooms, high-speficiation finishes in the kitchen and bathrooms, and contemporary open plan living areas.
“We’ve never had open plan kitchen and breakfast room before and we love it,” said Betty, “It’s ideal as when one of us is making dinner or a cup of tea, we can sit and chat to the other. I’ve always dreamed of having a walled garden too – it’s lovely to sit outside in it to enjoy the sun and, even though we’ve downsized, we don’t miss our old house at all.”
Finberry is a sought-after new village in the garden of England, designed to compliment the countryside that surrounds it. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Captain’s Wood conservation area and the picturesque Stour River, the development has a rural feel yet Ashford town centre with its high-speed rail links into London is only five minutes away by car.
Another factor that really appealed to the couple was the community hall that is being built by Crest Nicholson, which is only a stones throw from the Wright’s property. Once complete, the development will offer a host of amenities for residents to enjoy including a community hall, pub, children’s play areas, 80-bed care facility and a primary school, which is already open. Bus routes will also connect residents to Ashford town centre and beyond.
Purchasing their new home was a smooth process for Peter and Betty, who appreciated how helpful the Crest Nicholson’s sales advisors were. Explaining all of the processes to them and making sure they felt supported at every step of the way. Betty said; “the team were so helpful and efficient, before we moved in and afterwards. We only had to call them with a question and they would get it sorted straight away.”
Betty added: “We couldn’t be happier with our new home, it’s so light and airy and has a lovely feel to it.”
There are still homes available to buy at Green oaks, with prices starting from £255,000 for a two-bedroom apartment. To find out more information, call 01233 223133Back
