On Friday 23rd November, Crest Nicholson supported Monksmoor Park CE Primary School with the launch of its brand-new Forest School Programme. The inaugural project has been designed for the school’s first cohort of children, and award-winning developer Crest Nicholson has helped by preparing the land, planting trees and setting up areas such as a fire pit and log piles to get them off to the best possible start.

To kick start the programme, Crest Nicholson has also purchased all its tools and accessories, including a rustic storage facility and hiking backpacks, for the Forest School children to use and benefit from immediately.

The Forest School Programme is designed to provide outdoor educational experiences for the children where they can learn about the local environment and sustainability. This carefully curated area is the first to be delivered by Crest Nicholson within the Monksmoor Park school grounds and will provide the children with continued and unrestricted access to this programme throughout the school year.

The Woodland Trust also provided 30 sapling trees for each of the children to plant to create a small copse. This ceremonial tree planting is designed to signify the first pupils growing through the school and will become a lasting legacy for the school community to enjoy for years to come.

Andrew Dobson, Managing Director at Crest Nicholson Strategic Projects, said: “It’s a real privilege to be supporting Monksmoor Primary School with the launch of its first environmental project, as we recognise its value for the entire school community. We are proud to be investing in this innovative project to ensure students and teachers can enjoy this facility for many years to come.

“At Crest Nicholson, we are always looking for new ways to support this growing community and are excited to see what upcoming projects are in the pipeline at Monksmoor Park. We also see our support as part of a wider mission, to deliver a successful and family-friendly development, that has been specifically designed to meet the needs of the local Daventry community.”

Katie Towers, Headteacher at Monksmoor Park CE Primary School, said: “We’re excited to be working in partnership with Crest Nicholson to launch our Forest School. With the help of Crest Nicholson, we have developed an area of our extensive school grounds where children will have regular opportunities to develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences.  Forest School is an inspirational process, delivered through a specialist learning approach and facilitated by qualified practitioners. It will support our school’s environmental values by allowing children to learn about, explore and immerse themselves in nature, as well as providing long-term benefits for the entire school community to enjoy.

“Crest Nicholson’s ongoing commitment to supporting Monksmoor Park Primary School, and their hard work and generous donations means this project can go ahead in a superb natural environment within our own school grounds. We anticipate this to be the first of many exciting projects for us and we look forward to working with Crest Nicholson to improve the opportunities available to children attending our school.”

Monksmoor Park CE Primary School sits at the heart of Crest Nicholson’s Monksmoor Park development which, once complete, will feature 1,000 homes, a local community centre, retail units and offices, as well as public open spaces and an extension to the Daventry Country Park and reservoir.
