Margaret Pattenden invests in three properties at Crest Nicholson's Bishop's Brook development

In the last six months, Margaret Pattenden and her husband Nicholas, moved into award winning housebuilder Crest Nicholson’s Bishop’s Brook development in the Somerset town of Wells; and purchased two further properties at the development.

Margaret and her husband came across Bishop’s Brook online and were immediately interested in the development: recalling “We thought it was a very attractive development. I loved that there were different styles of homes available so we had a choice”. Having recently retired, the couple were keen to downsize to a slightly smaller property and also move away from the hustle and bustle of London life.

The couple moved into a traditionally styled four bedroom home, which boasts a spacious kitchen, separate dining room and a study. “It is great because we do not have to spend time or money bringing it up to spec, it is definitely an easier and more viable option in comparison to  purchasing an older property” said Margaret on the the benefits of living in a new build home.

The location was also an added bonus for the couple, “Wells is a lovely town and really does have a lot going for it. Bishop’s Brook is just a 10 minute walk from the city centre and is within walking distance to four supermarkets which is really handy! We are also close by to all the local amenities including a doctor’s surgery and pharmacy. For travel further afield, there are good links to Bristol; it is just an hour journey from the bus stop right outside the development.”

Margaret and her husband have purchased two properties on the development as an investment. The sales for both homes were completed earlier this year, avoiding the rise in stamp duty coming into force this April.

“We believe that property is a sensible investment and we really liked Bishop’s Brook so it seemed like a no-brainer to invest here. There was a great response when the property was marketed and we had quite a few people lined up wanting to rent” recalled Margaret.

“It was a simple and smooth process buy the properties’ said Margaret. ‘The sales team at Crest Nicholson were very helpful throughout the whole process, which is why we decide to purchase again at Bishop’s Brook. In addition, as newly built homes they were ready for the tenants to move in right away”.

Bishop’s Brook is a collection of traditionally styled 4 and 5 bedroom homes in the heart of rural Somerset. Ideal for those looking to downsize, purchase their first home or invest, there is a home to suit all needs.
