House-hunters, Cora and Tom Barnes, discovered that buying their dream family home could be stress and hassle free thanks to the part exchange scheme on offer at Crest Nicholson’s Canal Reach development in Hinckley. Having been on the search for a new, bigger family home for over six months, the Barnes’ were pleasantly surprised when they discovered they could secure their ideal property without having the worry of securing a buyer for their own house.
Cora Barnes, explained: “We didn’t know very much about part exchange schemes and hadn’t really considered it as an option, but, as soon as the Crest Nicholson sales advisor explained about it, we realised it was the perfect way for us to move house. We were looking to up-size from a three bedroom mid-terrace and Crest was offering part exchange on a four bedroom detached Marlborough property, which was just perfect! Even better, by part exchanging, Crest effectively acted as the buyer for our house, offering fair market value, and taking away the stress and expense of going through an estate agent.”
Having not planned to move to Hinckley, finding out about Crest Nicholson’s part exchange scheme wasn’t the only surprise element of the Barnes’ move. “We’d actually been concentrating our property search in Rugby and hadn’t thought about moving to Hinckley at all”, said Cora. “We’d lived in Coventry for 14 years and wanted to keep within easy commuting distance of our work, which is also in the city. But, one Sunday afternoon, on a whim, we decided to pop along to Canal Reach and we instantly fell in love with the area and the houses on offer.
“We wanted to move so that we could have more space to socialise as a family and bigger bedrooms for our two young children. We also wanted to move to an area with better schools, as both of the children are now at primary school. Canal Reach has turned out to be our ideal location. It’s just 20 minutes’ drive from work and my mum is really close by. The development has a number of local schools nearby and there’s even a play area for the kids to have fun outdoors.”
The Barnes family has moved into a four bedroom Marlborough house which boasts a large living room, spacious kitchen with separate utility area and dining room on the ground floor. Upstairs, the house benefits from a master bedroom with en-suite shower room and fitted wardrobe, plus a further three bedrooms and the family bathroom.
Cora, continued: “Our previous house was a 1950s mid-terrace with open plan reception space and now we live in a four bedroom detached house. It’s amazing. We love the fact that we now have a number of reception rooms. It makes a real difference when you have two young children, as it means everyone can have a bit of their own space and toys can be kept to one area! We also really like the fact that both the living room and kitchen have patio doors leading onto the garden, and I’m over the moon to have a separate utility area to keep all the laundry out of the way.”
Canal Reach offers a unique collection of 84 traditionally designed one and two bedroom apartments and two, three, four and five bedroom homes, set within easy reach of the nearby canal and open countryside, as well as the amenities of Hinckley town centre. As such, the development is perfect for a range of homebuyers, including couples like Cora and Tom Barnes who were looking for the perfect home in which to bring up their two children.
Prices at Canal Reach currently start from £149,950 for a three bedroom Hampton house, £189,950 for a four bedroom Mayford house and £209,950 for a five bedroom Kingswood house. A four bedroom detached Marlborough house like the Barnes’ is currently available from £229,950.
