In partnership with The Marlow Society, award-winning developer Crest Nicholson is proud to unveil a brand new Marlow history board at its Portland Gardens development in Marlow. The history board forms part of a wider community initiative to maintain the heritage in the town and leave a legacy for future generations to enjoy.
The history board was unveiled at an official ceremony hosted by Crest Nicholson’s Portland Gardens development. Attended by the Mayor of Marlow, Councillor Chris Funnell, and President of The Marlow Society, Sir Keith Stuart, the board will now become part of a wider initiative to place history boards throughout the beautiful riverside town, in an effort to curate an exciting history trail carefully designed for both residents and visitors alike.
Crest Nicholson’s collaboration with The Marlow Society demonstrates its commitment to supporting the local Marlow area, as the society is a well-known charity devoted to the preservation and development of the town, its surrounding villages and the charming Buckinghamshire countryside.
Speaking at the event, Mayor of Marlow, Councillor Chris Funnell commented: “I’m delighted to be present at the unveiling of the history board of Portland Gardens, which represents a look back in time. It has been a great collaboration between The Marlow Society and Crest Nicholson to mark this unique site.
“I am even more delighted to have with us today Kay Coster, Alan Coster’s widow, as our honoured guest and I’m sure that Kay will be able to share stories with us about Portland Gardens over the course of this morning and this great event.
“It is very encouraging that we are embracing this unique development and that we can maintain the heritage of the town and leave a legacy for the future. I’m also excited and encouraged that we can find ways of making spaces work in our town for growth.
“Of course, this is part of the wider initiative to place history boards around our beautiful riverside town and forms part of a history trail for visitors, and residents alike. I am grateful on behalf of Marlow Town Council to the Marlow Society and Crest Nicholson in recording the history of the site.”
Christine Tiernan, Sales & Marketing Director at Crest Nicholson South, said: “The history board unveiling ceremony is a stand out occasion for us in Marlow this year. We’re very proud to be marking the latest history board in Marlow in collaboration with The Marlow Society, and pleased to receive such a great welcome from the Mayor of Marlow and wider community. This is a fantastic opportunity for our residents at Portland Gardens and visitors to explore the rich heritage of the town and we are excited to see how the history trail progresses over the next few years.”
