Help to Buy enables local family to buy their first home at Westvale Park

Eve and Neil Joyce, and their two children, aged six and nine, have recently moved to Crest Nicholson’s Westvale Park development in Horley. Having previously rented in the nearby town of Reigate, the family decided that now was the time to take their first step onto the property ladder to provide more space for the children.

Eve, a childminder, and Neil, a banker, purchased a two-bedroom property at Westvale Park, commenting that “we both wanted to own our own property, and were instantly attracted to Westvale Park. It’s really quiet here and is surrounded by open space for the children to play. We have a dog called Frankie too, which we take for walks around the local fields.”

Their new home is perfect for Eve, as its open-plan layout means that she’s able to keep an eye on the children when she’s working. “As a childminder I needed our new home to fit in with my work. There’s a toilet downstairs and loads of space for the children to run around safely.”

With two children of their own, Eve and Neil have found that their new home has brought the family closer together, commenting that “the kids are enjoying the fact that we spend more time together in the open-plan rooms. Buying has also given them that added sense of security. They like the fact that it’s our home and we own it – we’re here for the long term.”

Positioned in the village of Horley, Westvale Park is conveniently located for Neil in his daily commute to London. Eve commented that, “it takes him 15 minutes to get to Redhill station, and from there he can get to central London.”

Having lived in the town of Reigate previously, the family were keen to remain in the area. “The children both go to school in Reigate, so we wanted to stay in the local area. The kids actually put their foot down and said they wouldn’t move if it meant leaving the area!”

The couple used the Help to Buy scheme to purchase their Surrey home, commenting that “without the scheme we wouldn’t have been able to stay in Surrey. It certainly helped us to buy a house, without it we’d still be renting!”

Two-bedroom homes at Westvale Park are available to move into now from £299,950 and are available using the Government’s Help to Buy* scheme. For more information, call  01293 977980, or visit;
