Members of Wokingham Council have visited Crest Nicholson’s Mulberry Grove development to view progress at a picturesque landscaped ecology zone, called a Sustainable Alternative Natural Greenspace (SANG), that is being created at the site. The creation of the SANG area is part of the planning consent given for the new development and will be available for residents to enjoy.
Connor Corrigan, Principal Planning Officer and Andy Glencross, Biodiversity Officer for Wokingham Borough Council, attended the development at Kentwood Farm, alongside Crest Nicholson South’s Senior Planner, Mark Bewsey and Marketing Manager, Caroline Tiernan.
The final seeding at the area is due to take place this month with further planting scheduled in the autumn. So as not to disturb wildlife, a small population of Great Crested Newts will be rehomed there from the main Kentwood Farm housing site.
Residents at the development will be encouraged to use the 5 hectares open-space area, which offers a great opportunity to enjoy the outdoors by walking their dog, going for a picnic or even riding their bike.
Caroline Tiernan, Marketing Manager for Crest Nicholson South, said: “As developers we are absolutely committed to preserving the ecology in and around our sites. Sustainability is a core value that threads itself through every part of our process, so the creation of this zone is a priority for us.
“We enjoyed showing Council representatives our progress and look forward to continuing to work together to protect the land and then preserve it for years to come.”
Crest Nicholson’s Mulberry Grove development benefits from a collection of 178 new homes, comprising of one and two-bedroom apartments and two, three, four and five-bedroom houses.
