Patricia Pigott, 70, and her husband Peter, 84, recently purchased their new home at Crest Nicholson’s Highlands Park, in Henley-on-Thames. “We haven’t moved for 40 years, so as you can imagine, this was a big step for us,” said Patricia, on their decision to downsize so quickly after visiting their new home.
The couple weren’t looking to move until Peter caught sight of Highlands Park and suggested they both view the show homes at the popular Crest Nicholson development. Within weeks the couple had made an offer and said they have received “excellent support” from the Chiltern team ever since. Crest Nicholson found them a mortgage broker and helped provide a solicitor to support the couple as their current home remains on the market.
The spacious master-bedroom suite stood out immediately to the couple. Patricia commented that they were both “very impressed with the quality” at Highlands Park, and said “the houses are cleverly laid out, and provide a huge amount of storage space” which is very useful as they downsize to a smaller property. The walk-in wardrobe was a very attractive feature for them. The couple were particularly fond of the view from their new bedroom, as well as other luxurious features including underfloor heating to the ground floor.
Choosing a new build “felt like a great choice for us, for many reasons,” with no hassle or work needing to be done to the house, which has really “given us the opportunity to put our own stamp on it” said Patricia. The couple can now focus on their passions at Highlands Park. Peter’s love of gardening sees him planting shrubs and other plants ready for spring, whilst Patricia can practice her landscape photography skills on the surrounding Henley countryside.
Highlands Park offers the couple an ideal balance of countryside living whilst still having access to all nearby local amenities. Peter and Patricia’s move has also helped them remain close to their local community and family who also reside in Henley-on-Thames. They plan to convert their extra bedroom into a guest room, doubling as a study space, to ensure their other family members can come and stay when visiting from Dorset.
“Everything feels new, and we have a lovely holiday feeling here,” Patricia said. Both are enthusiastic about the fresh start in their new house, with the couple “looking forward, not back,” as the move marks an exciting change for them.
