Drawing on its extensive experience of developing in Kent, award-winning house builder Crest Nicholson has officially launched Stour Meadows with the Mayor of Ashford, Councillor John Link.

Marking the first phase of its landmark development, Finberry, located in Ashford, Stour Meadows is characterised as a new village in the garden of England, marrying together the county’s unique identity, ranging from diverse streetscapes to the iconic sculptures that celebrate the area’s natural heritage.

Comprising two, three and four-bedroom houses, Stour Meadows will deliver a collection of traditionally designed cottages and executive family homes, intended to fulfil the demands of an array of local purchaser preferences.

Maximising kerb appeal, each property features exteriors sympathetic to the Kentish architectural vernacular with an array of white and dark weatherboarding, exposed red brick exteriors and tile-hung upper storeys. Embracing traditional features such as prominent chimneys, bay windows and Juliet balconies further enhances the external aesthetic. Additionally, a variety of house-types are located adjacent to each other to create diverse, characterful street scenes.

Catering to different buyer expectations, the homes feature a range of thoughtfully planned internal layouts ranging from contemporary open plan living areas to more traditional layouts with separate kitchen / dining rooms. High specification Commodore kitchens boast integrated Bosch appliances, while contemporary white bathroom suites emulate hotel bathrooms in style. Bedrooms are generously proportioned, with master suites offering fitted wardrobes and en suite bath / shower rooms.

Complementing the much needed housing, Finberry will ultimately incorporate commercial space, as well as the necessary infrastructure to cultivate a thriving community. On site facilities will include a primary school, convenience store, local restaurant, health centre and various communal facilities such as a community centre and sports pitches.

Peter Diffley, Managing Director of Crest Nicholson Eastern, said: “Finberry is an exciting new development that raises the bar for new-build property in Ashford. Having completed several developments in Kent previously, we have a real insight into what local buyers expect from a home, enabling us to create properties that fulfil demand and drive strong market appeal.

“Reports indicate that Ashford is the second-fastest growing area in the South East of England, which is unsurprising given the excellent High Speed One commuter links into London in just 38 minutes. Furthermore, with significantly more affordable house prices at the site compared to those in and around the capital, we’re expecting the town to become a real hotspot in the coming years.

“We’re confident that Finberry brings something new to the local market and will satisfy the significant demand for high quality new homes in the area.”

The Mayor of Ashford, Cllr John Link, added: “It is with great pride that I am officially launching Stour Meadows at Finberry. Following many years of working closely with Crest Nicholson, the local council and I are delighted to see the initial plans coming to fruition and look forward to watching the development thrive in years to come.”

Cllr David Robey, portfolio holder for planning and development at Ashford Borough Council, said: “Today marks the start of what we hope will become another major new thriving community in Ashford.

“Crest Nicholson has a good reputation for building quality homes and we expect that quality to continue in this and other developments. We look forward to welcoming the new families which choose to make Finberry and Ashford their home."

Residents at Finberry will be able to enjoy acres of open countryside bordering the development, as well as three beautiful ornamental water meadows and plenty of landscaped open space within the new village. Captain’s Wood, an area designated as ancient woodland, will also exist centrally, offering residents the unique opportunity to live amongst an area rich in ecology.

Currently available at Stour Meadows are three-bedroom houses priced from £265,000; four-bedroom houses are priced from £340,000. For further information or to register your interest visit: or telephone: 01233 223 133.
