Marlborough site manager, Barry McGrath, has picked up his fifth consecutive ‘Quality Award’ in this year’s prestigious National House-Building Council’s (NHBC) ‘Pride in the Job’ competition.
Barry, who is site manager at Crest Nicholson’s St John’s Park development in the town, has been hand-picked to receive this award from more than 13,000 contenders across the UK. To win, he was assessed across 38 aspects of site management, including technical knowledge, consistency in the build process, as well as leadership and organisational skills. This is the fifth time Barry has received a Pride in the Job award for his work with Crest Nicholson, in addition to three ‘Seal of Excellence’ Awards in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
Barry said: “I’m absolutely ecstatic to have received a Quality Award again this year. It feels great to know that all the hard work we put into our houses at Crest Nicholson is recognised by such a prestigious organisation as the NHBC.
“It really is a team effort so I have to thank everyone I work with at St Johns Park for helping me to maintain the very high standard of build Crest Nicholson is known for. I hope that our good fortune continues and we go on to do just as well in the later stages of the competition”
Now in its 32nd year, NHBC's ‘Pride in the Job’ is the only national competition to focus on the contribution the site manager makes in producing high quality new homes. Altogether more than 400 Quality Award winners were selected in this first round of winners. Barry now goes through to the next heat to try for a ‘Seal of Excellence’ Award in the autumn. The ‘Pride in the Job’ campaign reaches its climax with the announcement of the overall UK Supreme Award winners at a Gala Awards ceremony in January 2013.
Tom Dwyer, Production Director of Crest Nicholson South West, commented on the award win: “We are thrilled that Barry’s hard work and commitment to outstanding build quality has once again be recognised with an award from the NHBC. Barry is a very highly valued member of the Crest Nicholson team and we wish him all success in the next stage of the competition.”
