Commercial businesses coming on stream including a café, restaurant and gym will provide the icing on the cake for lifestyle buyers at Crest Nicholson’s Bath Riverside development.
That’s according to the latest residents at the Royal View apartment building overlooking the historic Victoria Bridge, who say lifestyle choices are a major factor when looking for a new home here.
It was certainly the case for Bath medical professional Dr Ian Bellamy, principal dentist and practice owner at Aquae Sulis Dental, who moved in to Royal View in 2017.
He said: “Initially I rented an apartment on the second floor. In September I managed to buy one of the larger apartments also in Royal View.”
Originally from Northamptonshire, Dr Bellamy said: “It was important to me to find a modern building where there was little in the way of maintenance. I had come from an old house with a large garden and this didn’t fit my lifestyle.
“Riverside is a perfect location, I can walk to work and more crucially can walk into Bath where I can enjoy all that the city has to offer without the hassle of parking. I have the convenience of living so close to the city centre but not actually in it - where tourist buses can sometimes be quite invasive!
“It’s an excellent lifestyle choice as the whole Riverside development - and especially Royal View - provides an ideal situation.
“It is quiet both in the building and around the development, which is unusual for city living. It has great access to the river which is ideal for me as I run and cycle.”
Ticking all the boxes for the modern professional, Bath Riverside is also a canny investment in uncertain times.
Dr Bellamy went on: “The apartment is for now a great place to live but I also expect it to be a good investment. I expect the value to increase well as the development continues and it also is in a situation where it is a very desirable site to rent.
“I have to recommend the staff in the sales office who were extremely helpful and understanding throughout the move.”
And with further commercial businesses due to follow Coffee #1’s example in the ground floors of the iconic buildings, Dr Bellamy is looking forward to a full range of services and facilities on his doorstep.
“It will be good when the park is completed as that will be a great space to hang out in in the good weather.
“It has always been understood that there will be a restaurant in the basement unit of Royal View. Depending on what it is that would be a great addition to the site as the coffee shop has been. I understand that there will also be a gym in Sovereign Point which would be great.”
Dr Bellamy concluded: “All in all Royal View has been a great place to live so I had no hesitation at making the transition from renting to owning a property here.”
Marcus Evans, sales and marketing director from developer Crest Nicholson echoed the advantages of the Bath Riverside lifestyle: “Many professionals and couples enjoy significantly different lifestyles than they did ten or twenty years ago.
“Professional people looking to unlock a new way of living tend towards style and convenience over space.
“When I started in the business every house buyer wanted a big garden just like their parents and grand-parents. A garden was often regarded as a bit of a status symbol back then but these days people simply don’t have the time – or inclination - to maintain them properly.”
Offering modern, flexible living spaces, open parks, landscaped courtyards and views like nothing else in the city, people wanting to change their lifestyle are being advised to take a closer look at Bath Riverside.
