Parents Rachel and Rafe Ball wanted more space for their young family and Crest Nicholson’s Upper Longcross garden village in leafy Surrey was the answer.
Currently living in a Victorian home in Staines, the couple, parents to a five-year-old daughter, came by Upper Longcross on their morning school run to Virginia Water.
But it wasn’t just convenience that prompted the pair to reserve a 4-bed detached ‘Elsenham’ model off-plan.
Rachel, a homemaker, said: “Being that bit further out, we’re surrounded by green spaces; it’s a lot calmer than where we are now! But we’re also within easy distance of London - so imagine we’ll be travelling in more as a family than we currently do.”
The ease of commute was certainly a factor for Rafe, who works as a Learning and Development manager in London, and is looking forward to the increased service from Upper Longcross station.
The sense of community was also a big selling point for Rafe: “We really like the idea of being part of the first phase of the development, and being a part of a growing community.
“There are plans for a children’s play area, a pond, and plenty of green spaces for me to go running!”
And what of the garden village development itself? “There’s something for everyone”, says Rachel.
“There’s a real spectrum of design choices; we’re quite practical and our new home is perfect for that. It has two en-suite bathrooms, for example, in addition to a main bathroom. It will certainly be a nice change from what we have now, as currently to get to our bathroom you must go through our bedroom -- not ideal for visitors!
“Our new home also has a study, which we’re going to convert into a playroom, and it will be nice to be able to host my parents who are recently retired. All in all, if I was asked to draw my ideal floor plan, this is it!”
Big gallery windows, high ceilings, an open-plan kitchen-diner, and a real sense of space were also among the selling points for Rachel and Rafe, who were full of praise for the Crest Nicholson Customer Service team.
“Oliver has spent many hours with us talking through every detail of how our home would look. Every question we had was quickly answered and it’s given us a lot of confidence in the process.”
Rachel, Rafe and their daughter are set to move into their new home later this year.
