Award-winning housebuilder Crest Nicholson welcomed the leader of Southampton City Council, Councillor Simon Letts, to its Woolston Waterside @ Centenary Quay development last week to provide an update on the exciting progress being made at the site.
Crest Nicholson Sales and Marketing Director, Marcus Evans, hosted the Councillor and the pair were joined by local entrepreneur, Spencer Bowman.
Spencer is the man behind Mettricks coffee which opened on the Centenary Quay site earlier this year, and which has since been joined by another of his creations: Vospers. Vospers is diversifying the dining options at Centenary Quay, serving up burgers, beers and cocktails.
The commercial units at Centenary Quay are fast transforming the development into a destination for locals who are looking for a spot on the water to relax.
Centenary Quay will be welcoming another restaurant with the launch of Supermarine in August 2017. Supermarine will be serving up pizza, pasta and wine on the waterfront, its opening marking another important landmark for the development.
Of his visit, Leader of Southampton City Council, Councillor Simon Letts said: "Crest Nicholson's development at Centenary Quay manages to incorporate business outlets and residential apartments on the one site.
"These modern homes are all part of a number of waterfront rejuvenation areas in the city, providing new waterside access at sites along the River Itchen.
"Centenary Quay gives a boost to the Marine employment industry in the city, offering offices for local businesses set in newly landscaped public spaces. The apartments cater for all, from single, young urban professionals through to small families.
"It's been a real pleasure to visit the site to see the progress that has been made so far."
Crest Nicholson Sales and Marketing Director, Marcus Evans, said: "It was a real pleasure to welcome the Councillor to Centenary Quay. We're so proud of the growing community we're building here. Mettricks and Vospers show what can be achieved on site and have already driven increased footfall to the site, with rave reviews making us confident we'll be seeing a few regulars at the Quay.
“We're really excited for the future of the development and the introduction of Supermarine later this year. Plans for Centenary Quay have always gone beyond providing exceptional housing and it's great to see this come to fruition."
Entrepreneur and owner of the Mettricks, Supermarine and Vospers units, Spencer Bowman explained: "Centenary Quay provides an exciting opportunity for our locally run business. It is a beautiful location, with incredible views over Southampton. We are especially pleased to be a part of the latest chapter in the history of Woolston. We are very grateful for the support shown by the local community. Finally, I would like to take a moment to thank both Southampton City Council and Crest Nicholson for their continued backing".
