Crest Nicholson Helping 20-Somethings Onto The Property Ladder

According to Halifax’s latest report* more than half of young people thought renting rather than buying will become normal for the next generation, aptly named ‘Generation Rent’. However some people, like Jennifer and Rod Maplestone, are already one step ahead of the rental crowd after purchasing their own two bedroom apartment at Crest Nicholson’s Ipswich development, Vista.

Jennifer (28), a Ward Clark at the local hospital said; “We spent three years renting in Kesgrave trying to save a never-ending deposit for a new home. After looking at our options we began to research affordable housing options that we stumbled across a fantastic scheme, HomeBuy Direct, similar to the current government-funded Help to Buy scheme.

“We were so thrilled about the scheme and quickly started looking at developments in the area. As soon as we drove past Crest Nicholson’s Vista development, we knew it was the one. It was still undergoing construction but we could instantly see how spacious it would be. We also loved the location as it was near the centre and close to both of our work place.”

When the couple went to see the team at Vista they were pleasantly surprised how easy the process was.

Rod (27), who works in a local care home said: “The biggest draw was the ease of moving in without the hassle of doing any DIY as unfortunately we’re not gifted in that department. The icing on the cake was that Crest Nicholson allowed us to pick out the flooring, bathrooms and kitchen units, colours and tiles, as the property was still under construction so it gave us more control over the finishing touches.”

Jennifer concludes: “We love our new home, we never dreamt of owning such a stunning home. For anyone still renting and considering buying I’d highly recommend researching options available to you and booking appointments to see the new developments and speaking to the sales team.”

Both first time buyers and second steppers can take advantage of schemes at Vista, including NewBuy and the Government-backed Help to Buy scheme which enables buyers to secure their home for 75% of its full price and only pay a 5% deposit. Part Exchange is also available whereby Crest Nicholson buys the purchaser’s existing home so that they may purchase a home at Vista. Both schemes have proven popular and enabled many buyers to step onto or climb the property ladder when they would otherwise have been unable to do so.

Vista, located on Woodbridge Road, comprises a selection of one and two-bedroom apartments and two, three and four-bedroom houses. At one end of the site lies a wildlife corridor with series of water features to create a peaceful and beautiful environment.

Prices for current availability at Vista start from £195,000 to £300,000.
