Award-winning developer Crest Nicholson is celebrating after picking up two awards at this year’s Job Crowd Awards. The developer was named Best Graduate Employer in the Property category and Best Graduate Employer for Ethical and Environmental Awareness.
Crest Nicholson was also named as one of Job Crowd’s Top 100 Graduate Employers in the UK. Of the hundreds of businesses and organisations considered across all sectors, Crest Nicholson was ranked overall fourth in the list, the highest position of any house builder.
The Job Crowd awards, hosted at the Lancaster Hotel in Central London, celebrate the UK’s ‘top companies for early careers’. All awards are based on anonymous reviews and feedback from graduate and apprentice employees across the UK.
The awards recognise Crest Nicholson’s ongoing commitment to bringing new graduates and apprentices into the business. In 2016, 12 graduates completed their graduate programmes and took up permanent positions within the group, while 11 new graduates joined the scheme.
Crest Nicholson’s graduate programme challenges graduates to become the next generation of directors and managers, providing a rounded knowledge of the business in the process. There are currently 21 graduates on Crest Nicholson’s award-winning graduate programme, which has enjoyed a 92% retention rate since the programme launched in 2014.
The Best Graduate Employer for Ethical and Environmental Awareness award reflects Crest Nicholson’s continuing focus on sustainability. The developer is listed in the FTSE4Good index and is a consistent top performer in the Next Generation sustainability benchmark. Sustainability considerations are a feature throughout the business, with Crest Nicholson homes being on average 16.6% better on carbon emissions than current regulations require.
Speaking following the award ceremony, Stephen Stone, Chief Executive at Crest Nicholson explained: “We are delighted to have been recognised at this year’s Job Crowd Awards and named one of the UK’s best graduate employers by employees themselves. The awards are testament to the whole Crest Nicholson team, recognising how hard everyone works to provide an engaging and dynamic working environment.
“Graduates are a vital part of our business and the future leaders of the industry. As a sector, house builders must energise more young people – particularly women - about the prospects of a career in construction. Now is the time to invest in the future of our industry and ensure we are building the talent that will continue to provide the UK with quality housing for years to come.”
