Isambard Community School students film at Crest Nicholson's Tadpole Garden Village

Students from Isambard Community School, a leading secondary school in Swindon, have spent time filming at Crest Nicholson’s award-winning development, Tadpole Garden Village. The students who were taking part in a filming project run by charity, Into Film, which offers schools the opportunity to use films as a way to encourage learning and engage students.

Isambard Community School was one of fifty schools around the country selected to take part in this project. Five students in year seven and four students in year eleven worked together with a professional filmmaker to script, cast, direct, act and shoot the film. Thirty students were also cast as extras in the film which was all shot in one day.

The brief for the film was to show the transition of a child from primary to secondary school and the students wanted to illustrate how daunting this change can be. The film follows four students on their first day and shows their worries about moving to secondary school and why the reality is much more enjoyable than they think it will be. The final film will be screened at Isambard Community School and will appear on Into Film’s YouTube channel and website.

Bobak Faghihi, performing arts technical manager, at Isambard Community School said: ”We’re really grateful to Crest Nicholson for allowing us to film in one of the houses at Tadpole Garden Village. Filming at the development allowed the students to show young people leaving home on their first day of school which really helped bring the scenes to life.  The Into Film project allows the students exposure to all elements in the film production process giving them hands on experience in creating a film from scratch. This project has been fantastic and really helped our students to grow in confidence.”

Tim Ridges, Senior Sales Manager at Tadpole Garden Village added: “We’re delighted to be able to offer the students from Isambard Community School a setting in which to film their entry for the Into Film project. We’re building a strong community here at Tadpole Garden Village, which is home to a number of families with children making the transition from primary to secondary school. We’ll be opening a secondary school right here on-site in 2018 so we’re keen to support further education in Swindon however we can.”

Tadpole Garden Village, which recently won Best Community Initiative at the 2015 Housebuilders Award, is a flourishing development with community at its heart. Surrounded by beautiful open farmland and adjacent to a nature reserve, once completed it will incorporate 149 acres of green space, playing fields and allotments including a new town park, eight children’s play areas and a common for all to enjoy.
