When David Jones (60) began hunting for a new home, he was surprised to discover Crest Nicholson’s SmoothMove scheme, which helped him sell his old home just 24 hours after the first viewing. He was then able to fulfil his dream of owning a new-build home at Crest Nicholson’s Green Acres development in Alrewas.
David was previously living in a large three-bedroom house in Sutton Coldfield but was also looking to downsize, using the extra money to support his daughters, who are both looking into purchasing new homes. He comments: “My eldest daughter has just moved into her second home nearby and my youngest is also looking to take her first step onto the property ladder. Given I’m now living alone, I was looking to downsize and it was important to me to be able to use some of the funds from my house sale to support their buying ambitions.”
David originally had difficulty securing viewings due to being in a property chain. He explains: “With a lot of the homes I enquired about, they were only interested in arranging a viewing if I had already sold my home.” Crest Nicholson’s SmoothMove scheme supports prospective homebuyers by arranging for valuations and viewings of previous homes, as well as paying estate agent fees. “Using the scheme meant I was able to start my house hunt and look into securing a new home and tackle one home at a time. They organised valuations, viewings, and paid the fees to get my previous property sold as quickly as possible” He adds.
David continues: “With the help of Crest Nicholson I was able to sell my old home almost as soon as it went on the market. It made the moving process so much easier and less stressful for me and with the selling process off my plate, I could look ahead and start to get excited about my new home.”
By choosing the development at Green Acres, David could realise his ambition of living in a new-build home, choosing the three-bedroom Huntington house type. He comments: “I’ve been seriously considering new-build homes in recent years as I wanted to move into a home where I had the control over the final design choices. I was able to choose the tiling in my bathroom and worktops in my kitchen as well as flooring around the house. With energy bills going up, a new-build with modern insulation and new appliances has also meant I can power my home more cheaply, which is a small saving given rising energy costs.”
He continues: “Green Acres was a great choice for me as it has offered me the chance to move in and not worry about any DIY and is also part of a quiet village with a nice community and all the amenities I need, right on my doorstep.”
Residents at Green Acres will be able to enjoy an excellent range of amenities close to home, including a post office, Co-Op general store, dentist, doctor surgery, popular butcher and a variety of traditional village pubs. There is also plenty to do to keep active with a park, local cricket club and thriving tennis club nearby.
The development is also ideally placed in the countryside to allow David to get out and about, he adds: “The sprawling green spaces surrounding the development and the canal nearby also give me plenty of options to make the most of the outdoors and explore new routes for walking my chocolate Labrador. It’s such a nice opportunity to chat to people in the area.”
Commuters are well catered for with nearby access to the A38, A515, A50 and M6, while rail links are available at Lichfield Trent Valley and City train stations, providing direct access to Birmingham in around 40 minutes and London Euston in under two hours.
Prices at Green Acres start from £300,000 for three-bedroom homes and £475,000 for four-bedroom homes and £715,000 for five-bedroom homes.
