Local housebuilder Crest Nicholson is supporting Godalming and Villages Community Store on behalf of the community at its Catteshall Court development, in Surrey.
Employees from Crest Nicholson’s South division recently collected non-perishable, essential food items the foodbank needs, and members of the team delivered it to the foodbank where they were able to learn more about how it supports those in the local community with access to a variety of supplies when they are struggling.
Crest Nicholson has also financially donated to the foodbank, which will enable it to top up the donations with missing items and purchase fresh produce such as fruit and vegetables, plus chilled and frozen food.
Eileen Guihen, Sales and Marketing Director and Deputy Managing Director at Crest Nicholson South said: “We are proud to partner with Godalming and Villages Community Store to help them continue to provide vital support to those in our community who are facing hardship. Foodbanks are under immense pressure, especially at this time of year, due to the increase in the number of people, and families, requiring food and other essentials.
“At Crest Nicholson, we’re committed to helping the wider community in Godalming and the surrounding areas; and are incredibly grateful for the work that the Community Store is doing to support those in crisis.”
Annie Barker, Volunteer and Trustee at Godalming and Villages Community Store, added: “We are very thankful to Crest Nicholson for their support to our foodbank. The donation of food and the financial help are invaluable. We’ll use the money to buy fresh fruit and vegetables and to stock our fridge and freezer – a facility that many food banks can’t offer.
In the run up to Christmas, it’s key for us to get support from local businesses to ensure we can be there for our community when they really need us, so thank you again, Crest Nicholson.”
There’s also help available from the Community Cupboard outside the Store in opening hours. To avoid food waste, the volunteers offer some perishable items and a few tins. Anyone in the community is welcome to visit, especially those who need a little extra support but don’t have a referral to the Store.
Crest Nicholson's South division builds a number of high quality homes and community facilities for the local community in the area. There are currently 11 homes available at its Catteshall Court development, in Godalming, including one and two bedroom apartments and three bedroom houses.
