Sourik (40) and Piali (40) Lahiri and their family, who purchased a four bedroom Dorking house type, were the first people to move to the new community. The Lahiri’s move in day marked an exciting milestone, as they became the first residents across the three neighbourhoods that will form a vibrant new community in Ipswich Garden Suburb (IGS).


Sourik and Piali Lahiri, who both work for software firms, are making the move along with their son, Souparno (13). Their new home not only has all the space that they need, including a utility room and garage with two parking spaces, but it is also closer to their son Souparno’s school.


Having previously rented a three bedroom semi-detached property within Ipswich, the first-time buyers were keen to get on the property ladder and make some cost savings. Sourik explains: “We were looking for a new home in Ipswich as we were spending so much on rent – we wanted something to call our own and we knew mortgage payments would be far more cost effective than renting. As first-time buyers, we thought it would have been harder to find one ourselves. We’re so excited not only to move into our brand-new home at Henley Gate, but to be the first household here to do so!”


Sourik and Piali were drawn to a new build property because of the low maintenance benefits of buying new. They found that new build properties, rather than older ones, ticked all the boxes for them. Piali explains: “In an older property, we’d likely have had to undertake lots of renovations to make it liveable.
