new homes in Ipswich

Award winning housebuilder Crest Nicholson has welcomed the first residents to its sought after Henley Gate development in Ipswich. Sourik (40) and Piali (40) Lahiri and their family, who purchased a four bedroom Dorking house type, were the first people to move to the new community. The Lahiri’s move in day marked an exciting milestone, as they became the first residents across the three neighbourhoods that will form a vibrant new community in Ipswich Garden Suburb (IGS).

Sourik and Piali Lahiri, who both work for software firms, are making the move along with their son, Souparno (13). Their new home not only has all the space that they need, including a utility room and garage with two parking spaces, but it is also closer to their son Souparno’s school.

Having previously rented a three bedroom semi-detached property within Ipswich, the first-time buyers were keen to get on the property ladder and make some cost savings. Sourik explains: “We were looking for a new home in Ipswich as we were spending so much on rent – we wanted something to call our own and we knew mortgage payments would be far more cost effective than renting. Buying a new build property with Crest Nicholson meant we were able to get a dedicated solicitor and financial advisor. As first-time buyers, we thought it would have been harder to find one ourselves. We’re so excited not only to move into our brand-new home at Henley Gate, but to be the first household here to do so!”

Sourik and Piali were drawn to a new build property because of the low maintenance benefits of buying new. They found that new build properties, rather than older ones, ticked all the boxes for them. Piali explains: “In an older property, we’d likely have had to undertake lots of renovations to make it liveable. With our new build, we got everything afresh, and Crest Nicholson gave us the ability to choose from different fixtures and fittings such as our kitchen, aspects of our bathrooms and our flooring.”

Karen Coulson, Sales & Marketing Director at Crest Nicholson Eastern, said: “After launching the development at the end of last year, we’re really pleased to welcome our first residents into Henley Gate, which is such an exciting milestone in the development of the wider Ipswich Garden Suburb. We’re looking forward to even more residents joining this fantastic development in the coming weeks and months.

“Thanks to the development’s prime position, with Ipswich town centre so close by, Henley Gate is already proving really popular. We’d therefore encourage anyone interested to get in touch with us as soon as possible to avoid disappointment, and visit our three brand new show homes, to get a feeling for what living at Henley Gate could be like.”

Made up of an exclusive collection of two to five bedroom homes, Henley Gate will also feature a local centre, country park and brand new schools once complete. Ipswich town centre is just a 10 minute drive away, meaning residents of Henley Gate can make the most of everything Ipswich has to offer, including Ipswich Waterfront, the Regent Theatre, a monthly Farmers’ Market plus a wide array of restaurants and independent shops. Ipswich is also located close to the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Natural Beauty, ideal for those who enjoy spending time in nature.

For families, there are plenty of good schools within easy reach of Henley Gate, all rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted. These include the Thomas Wolsey Ormiston Academy, the Dale Hall Community Primary School and The Meadows Montessori School. Crest Nicholson will also deliver a brand-new primary school at Henley Gate, one of tree within the wider Ipswich Garden Suburb, which will also include a brand new secondary school.

With Ipswich train station located just 10 minutes away by car from Henley Gate, residents can benefit from direct links to London Liverpool Street station in just over an hour. There are also regular train services to Norwich, Colchester, Chelmsford, Cambridge and Bury St Edmunds. Both the A12 and A14 are easily accessible from the development, providing easy access into neighbouring towns and cities, plus London, by car.

Prices for two bedroom homes start from £290,000, £330,000 for a three bedroom property and £385,000 for a four bedroom property.
