Susan (53) and Peter (58) Holdman decided to move back to their home county of Kent after spending much of their life in the United States. The couple found the perfect home to settle back down at The Village Centre, part of Crest Nicholson’s Finberry development in Ashford. They purchased a three-bedroom home for £350,000, with Crest Nicholson paying their Stamp Duty fees in full.

Once their children had flown the nest, Susan and Peter decided it was time to return to the place they considered home, Kent. “We started looking at homes when we were still living in Arizona,” said Peter, “Crest Nicholson’s development caught my eye, and when we were finally able to visit, we knew we wanted to live here.” The ease of a new-build home was what attracted the couple at first, but they then discovered the ‘great community atmosphere’ at the development. Susan added, “coming from a big city like Phoenix in Arizona, the village feel of the site is lovely!”

“The community in the neighbourhood is fantastic,” they said, “everyone is extremely friendly and always ready to lend a helping hand.”  What struck the couple was the gorgeous countryside setting. “There are so many walking and cycling paths that wind through the property, ideal for a morning stroll with our two chihuahuas,” added Susan. The Village Centre will offer a wide range of amenities, from shops, to a restaurant and a community centre, as well as pockets of green ideal for outdoor activities to enjoy with family and friends.

For Peter, a global marketing manager, ‘The Village Centre’s’ excellent transport links were all part of the development’s appeal. Ashford International is a short drive away, offering regular trains into the capital with a journey of under 40-minutes to London St Pancras using the High Speed One train, and trains into Paris in under two hours. Peter comments: “I often travel into Europe for work, and the ease with which I can get to the mainland was a big selling point for me,” commented Peter.

Two-bedroom homes at The Village Centre are available from £240,000, while prices for three-bedroom homes begin at £335,000.
