Matt Grigg, 41, and his partner, Katherine Marston, 32, recently upsized to their new five-bedroom home at Crest Nicholson’s Nightingale Fields, in a new Garden Village at Arborfield Green, Wokingham. The couple purchased their dream home to meet the needs of the entire family, especially Matt who was looking for better home office space.

The family were on the hunt for larger properties in Wokingham that “would offer me the chance to work more effectively from home,” said Matt. After moving in to their new property, Matt admitted that “my work life is better and our home structure runs more smoothly too,” as the whole family has more space now that his work can be easily closed away.

Matt’s role as a regional technical manager for a leading motor company offers flexible working options, which meant he was able to make the most of this “massive benefit” within his new home. He said, “I prefer working from home as it avoids the day-to-day distractions of the office” and as a result, he really enjoys working in his dedicated new home work environment. Matt’s sit-stand desk looks out on to a great view of the surrounding green spaces and trees, which he said provides a calming and unobstructed outlook.

When designing his home office space, he wanted a unique work space that would meet his own needs. He updated the technology to ensure there was a strong wireless connection in case he needed to work remotely, and all the plug and power sockets are automated so he can work via his phone. Matt mentioned that strong wireless technology is essential when working from home, especially given his role relies “on a lot of movement of information” online.

The extra space has given the family more flexibility at home and improved their lifestyle. Both Matt and Katherine travel to work on occasion, which is made easier from Wokingham train station only 12-minutes away by car. From the station, the family can access London Waterloo in just over an hour and London Paddington in 49-minutes via Reading.
