Polly Darrah (59) and her father John Symonds (88) recently moved in together into a three-bedroom home at Crest Nicholson’s Bartestree Grange development in Herefordshire. After both living in flats, Polly in Bartestree and John in the middle of Hereford, they decided to get a place that they both could enjoy.

An accountant who often works from home, Polly has made the spare bedroom her office, with a bed for when her granddaughter comes to stay. She explains: “With dad getting a bit unsteady, we thought it would be a good idea for us to live together.  Dad is enjoying having a garden to potter around in and I’m happier knowing I’m better placed to look after him.”

Polly is looking forward to welcoming a sprockador puppy into her home in September – a cross between a cocker spaniel, springer spaniel and a labrador. “One of the reasons I wanted to stay in the area was because there are so many places that I’ll be able to walk the dog when it arrives,” continues Polly. “We’ve got the Black Mountains and the Malverns nearby that are beautiful. Bartestree Grange is perfectly located because it gives us access to stunning countryside like that but we’re also close enough to Hereford to not feel cut off. The village itself is well-stocked as well, with a shop, a pub, a village hall for activities and good bus routes.”

The three-bedroom home cost £350,000. She explains: “We weren’t necessarily looking for a new build home, but we thought we would take a look as I’d seen the development being built. When we had a look around the show home it blew us away. The kitchen/diner is very spacious; I’ve got my dining table in there and have so much cupboard space. I love cooking so having a good kitchen was crucial for me to be able to make my famous korma!”

Bartestree Grange comprises a contemporary collection of two, three and four bedroom homes. The development provides the best of modern living, offering a peaceful village setting, surrounded by beautiful countryside, yet with the convenience of Hereford city centre only four miles away.

At Bartestree Grange the two bedroom homes are priced from £239,950, three bedroom homes are priced from £287,950 and four-bedroom homes are priced from £399,950. The Help to Buy and Part Exchange schemes are available on selected homes.
