As the world grapples with the pressing challenges of climate change, the demand for environmentally friendly homes is on the rise. Over the last few years, both new homes developers and homeowners have been working towards making sustainable steps to make a real difference.

As we strive for a greener future, Crest Nicholson is proud to be actively promoting eco-conscious practices. Our purpose is to build sustainable homes and positively improve the well-being of the communities in which we build.

Here are some of the steps we are taking to foster sustainability and create a brighter, greener tomorrow.

Energy-Efficient Design

Energy efficiency takes centre stage in our commitment towards a greener future. Our energy-efficient homes are thoughtfully designed and well-insulated to ensure maximum energy saving, without compromising on comfort and quality of living.

From energy-efficient appliances to water efficient fittings, our new build homes both comply with the new standards for sustainability and allow you to take advantage of modern home features.

Mitigate Environmental Impact

In our aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and our impact on the climate, we have implemented new science-based targets, which include a commitment to reach net-zero across our value chain by 2045.

To ensure our homes are future proofed for climate change, we are committed to procuring 100% renewable electricity by 2025. This ensures that the new homes in which we build are future proofed for a changing climate.

Waste Reduction

Construction projects can generate a substantial amount of waste, but we are committed to minimising this environmental burden. Through careful planning and efficient waste management, we aim to reduce natural resource consumption, waste and the risk of pollution incidents across our business operations.

In our aims to reduce waste, we monitor the waste produced from sites and report back on opportunities for improvement. We also regularly research alternative construction methods, evaluating their impact on waste and embodied carbon.

Water Conservation

At Crest Nicholson, we recognise the importance of responsible water management. Our new build properties integrate water-efficient fixtures and appliances, reducing water consumption and saving energy in the process.

Our new homes are also designed to use a maximum of 105 litres per person, per day. This is 16% lower than the Building Regulations requirement!

Enhancing Biodiversity

As part of our commitment to achieve a biodiversity net gain of at least 10% on developments, we engage with ecologists to consider how we can protect and enhance natural habitats.

By mitigating the impact of our new build developments, we can build homes and improve social infrastructure, while ensuring that nature continues to thrive.

A Greener Future with Crest Nicholson
