Environmental degradation and climate change are widely recognised as two of the biggest challenges the world faces. Natural resources such as water, wood and fuel for energy are becoming more scarce, and habitats which support local livelihoods and vital ecosystems are being degraded.
Across the company we continue to introduce new ways to address climate change, from leaner, smarter working practices to designing new, energy efficient homes and finding effective ways to help our customers cut their own energy costs and carbon footprint.
On every development we work with our partners to develop environmental strategies which reduce the use of energy and water, produce less waste and enhance the local ecology. Read about our latest efforts to support ecology at our Mulberry Grove development in Wokingham with the creation of a Sustainable Alternative Natural Greenspace (SANG).
Within our offices and on our sites, our Resource Efficiency campaign promotes efficient and wise use of natural resources, materials and products, and we are embedding this philosophy within our supply-chain.
Every year we measure and publish our Carbon Footprint in our annual Sustainability Report.
Through our timber policy we commit to only buying timber from known legal sources and favour suppliers with FSC certification. We have recently developed a three year action plan to continue to improve our procurement of sustainability timber products and address any issues within the business or our supply chain that hamper our efforts.
