Nominated by Acivico Building Consultancy Limited, Park Central’s Central Plaza buildings have been chosen as the winner in the Built in Quality Awards and described as West Midlands’ most inspiring apartment construction project for 2015.

Keith McBride, Acivico Building Consultancy senior surveyor said: “I nominated the Central Plaza buildings at Park Central because it is a unique project that demonstrates great build and quality workmanship. The awards are all about recognising and celebrating good building projects in the region and Central Plaza is definitely one worthy of recognition.”

Characterised by a contemporary colour-change façade, the Central Plaza buildings are located at the heart of the Park Central development which is located off Lee Bank Middleway. Boasting 132 one and two bedroom luxury apartments and benefiting from a landscaped public courtyard sitting over a gated undercroft car park, the buildings offer the very best in contemporary urban living. All the apartments comprise large, open-plan kitchen and living areas which open out onto attractive balconies or terraces, many of which offer stunning views across the development and Birmingham city centre beyond.

Pete Bayliss, Project Manager at Park Central, said: “At Crest Nicholson, we pride ourselves on the quality of our homes and take much care in ensuring they are built to the very best standard. From initial design through to completion, we’ve adhered to all the building regulations that Acivico has set and we are delighted that our dedication and skill has been recognised in these awards.”
Crest Nicholson will receive the award at The West Midlands Celebrating Construction awards ceremony, which incorporates Acivico’s Built in Quality Awards and Built Environment Hub's Constructing Excellence Awards, on Friday 10 July at The ICC Birmingham. The event celebrates the very best industry projects and recognises the region’s most inspiring construction projects and people.

In 2014, Park Central had its most successful awards year to date receiving three national honours for the Best Regeneration Project at the Housebuilder Awards; Development of the Year (over 100 homes) at the Sunday Times British Homes Awards and Best Starter Home Scheme at the What House? Awards.

As a 61-acre residential-led mixed use scheme of great significance in Birmingham, Park Central has transformed the former Lee Bank area – which was once a notorious hot spot for crime and poor social behaviour – into a desirable place for city centre living. The development has been delivered by Crest Nicholson in partnership with Birmingham City Council and Optima Community Association and the development is already home to over 1,250 apartments and freehold townhouses, together with 285,000 sq ft of commercial space. Just one phase remains to be delivered at Park Central with plans due to be revealed in due course.
