New build properties deliver the highest build quality and offer the widest market appeal, according to over two thirds of house buyers surveyed in a new industry report[1]. The findings reiterate the resurgence new build homes have enjoyed in the past decade, as they now rival the attraction of their second hand and period property equivalents.

Annette Cole, Sales and Marketing Director, Crest Nicholson Eastern, explains: "While this report is new, it emphasises that the appeal of new build properties remains consistent, and reflects the precision with which housebuilders develop for contemporary buyers.

“The majority of buyers who favour new builds do so because of the pristine condition their property is completed in. The homes don't require any modernisation or refurbishment and offer a blank canvas that owners can furnish to reflect their tastes. High end kitchens and bathrooms come as standard, minimising the hassle endured by many who have to replace sanitaryware and kitchen units before they can start decorating.

“Additionally, floor plans are thoughtfully calculated from the inception of the build, unlike many period homes where the original floor plans are outdated and need adapting to accommodate contemporary lifestyles.

“This is particularly prevalent in kitchens which, in period properties, are often small and located to the periphery of the living accommodation. However, with buyers now utilising kitchens as the heart of the family home, we have ensured that kitchens occupy a central point in a household.
