Park Central Wins Second National Award of The Year

Park Central was named Best Regeneration Project at last week’s Housebuilder Awards, following being named Development of the Year (over 100 homes) at the Sunday Times British Homes Awards earlier in the summer. Additionally, Crest Nicholson was named Housebuilder of the Year at both award ceremonies.

The Housebuilder Awards is an annual event that celebrates the very best in UK housebuilding and is organised in partnership with the National House Building Council (NHBC).

Debbie Aplin, Managing Director for Crest Nicholson Regeneration, said: “To have received a second national award for Park Central in just a few months is phenomenal and shows just how much has been achieved at the development over the past decade.

“Park Central is one of the largest residential regeneration schemes in Birmingham city centre. When we first purchased the site, the whole area was blighted by poor social conditions and poor quality housing. It was often referred to as a no-go zone in Birmingham. Ten years later, Park Central is a desirable place to live in the city, home to more than 1,000 people, including professionals and families.

“Winning the Housebuilder Award for Best Regeneration Project in the UK shows how successful the partnership between Crest Nicholson, Optima Community Association and Birmingham City Council has been. We’re delighted to have won this prestigious award.”

A 61-acre residential-led mixed use scheme located off Lee Bank Middleway, Park Central once epitomised Birmingham’s image as a ‘concrete jungle’. Dominated by tower blocks and street crime, the environment was so unhealthy that half of the children on the estate suffered from asthma. Improving the future of this area, Crest Nicholson is on course to deliver 1,600 new homes including apartments and houses, together with 285,000 sq ft of commercial space.

At the heart of Park Central are eight aces of landscaped public parkland. This summer, Crest Nicholson revealed the last piece of the parkland: a beautiful park link that joins together the Moonlit and Sunset Parks.

Following strong sales all year, a brand new phase of homes has recently been released at Park Central. Named Madison Walk, the phase is made up of three bedroom freehold houses and one and two bedroom apartments, all of which have been designed with modern fixtures and fittings, as well as contemporary kitchens and bathrooms. Prices for the new apartments start from just £120,000 and the houses are priced from £230,000. All the new homes are available to buy with a deposit of just five per cent, when purchased under the government’s Help to Buy scheme.
