A young Ipswich couple have bucked current purchasing trends, which place the current average age of a first time buyer at 36; taking their first step on the property ladder at the tender ages of 23 and 24 years’ old.
Having lived in a studio flat in Ipswich for five years, Chris Hawkins and Holly Bridgeman have recently moved into a new three-bedroom home at Crest Nicholson’s Rosewood development in Colchester.
Talking about their new home Chris, 24, said: “We’d been living in a studio flat in Ipswich for five years while we worked to save up a deposit so that we could get on the property ladder. I used to drive past Rosewood most days on my way to work and always liked the look of it so, after looking at quite a few properties in the area and not finding anything we liked, we decided to take a look.
“We were immediately impressed by the quality of the homes. They were a cut above everything else we’d looked at. Although we’re not planning on starting a family just now, having a home that we could grow into was a factor in our decision. With three-bedrooms our new house is big enough for us for some time yet.”
Chris’s partner Holly originally wanted an older property, however when she visited Rosewood, Holly had a change of heart. Chris continues: “Holly didn’t particularly want a new build home, but that all changed when we visited Rosewood.
“Holly was won over by the fact that everything was brand new which meant we wouldn’t be caught out with unexpected costs straight after we moved in. The buying process overall was also a lot easier than buying off someone else. An added bonus was that we were also able to have small alterations done to the house, such as having a computer network fitted.
“We’re very happy here – our neighbours are really friendly and it’s a great place for our first home.”
Located to the north of Colchester town centre, Rosewood is perfectly located close to open countryside and picturesque villages such as Dedham & Flatford, as well as being within easy reach of the A12 at junction 28.
