Second phase of city centre development launches in Sherborne Wharf

Award-winning developer Crest Nicholson has launched the second phase of its Birmingham city centre development, Ultima at Sherborne Wharf. When complete, the phase will comprise a premium collection of one and two bedroom apartments.

The development, which is set around a communal landscaped courtyard and adjacent to one of Birmingham’s famous canals, offers the very best of waterside living. Ideal for young professionals working in the city and first time buyers alike, the homes at Ultima at Sherborne Wharf boast stylish, open plan living, with all the amenities that the thriving city offers on the doorstep. Each apartment features private outdoor space in the form of a balcony or terrace and with secure underground parking.

All of the homes at Ultima at Sherborne Wharf will be available with the government-backed Help to Buy: Equity Loan scheme, enabling buyers to purchase a brand-new home with just a 5% cash deposit. The government offers an interest free equity loan of up to 20% of the cost of the home, meaning only a 75% mortgage is needed to make up the rest.

Laura Osborne, Sales and Marketing Director for Crest Nicholson Midlands, commented: “With lots of large international companies, such as HSBC, recently investing in the area, Birmingham is fast becoming one of the most sought-after and vibrant cities in the UK.

“Young professionals moving to the city for work are looking for stylish apartments located close to some of Birmingham's best amenities. As a result, Ultima at Sherborne Wharf has proved exceptionally popular with thanks to its modern, low maintenance design, courtyard living and canal location which allows residents to enjoy the social aspects of the city within walking distance of home.”

The city of Birmingham has undergone a transformation in recent years, benefiting from public and private investment. Birmingham will be showcased to the world during the 2022 Commonwealth Games, while the HS2 train line, scheduled to launch in 2026, will connect the city to London in 49 minutes. The existing transport infrastructure already means Birmingham can make the most of its central position in the country, with three major train stations taking residents to cities including Manchester, London and Oxford every day.

Ultima at Sherborne Wharf makes the most of city life, with everything from Michelin-starred restaurants and boutique shops, to big names like Selfridges, Harvey Nichols and the world-famous Bullring shopping centre nearby. Residents can also immerse themselves in the city’s diverse cultural history, with Birmingham home to the Peaky Blinders, Black Sabbath, the UK’s jewellery industry and Cadbury’s chocolate.
