Port Marine senior site manager, Shaune Hicks, has been named ‘Quality Award’ winner in this year’s prestigious National House-Building Council’s (NHBC) ‘Pride in the Job’ competition for his dedication to ensuring the homes at the Crest Nicholson development are built to the highest standard.
Shaune, who is currently overseeing the build of the marina-side development at Portishead, has been hand-picked to receive this award from more than 18,000 contenders across the UK. To win, he was assessed across 38 aspects of site management, including technical knowledge, consistency in the build process as well as leadership and organisational skills. Last year, Shaune progressed to the next stage of the competition, winning the NHBC ‘Seal of Excellence’ for his work. This is also the second accolade Shaune has taken home this year after receiving the NHBC Health and Safety award in May.
Shaune said: “It’s a great honour to receive the Quality Award and to be commended for my hard work and the success of the teams I’ve been leading.
“I thoroughly enjoy working in the construction industry and seeing the build process through from start to finish. This recognition makes my time with Crest Nicholson even more worthwhile and enjoyable.
“The next phases of the Crest Nicholson development will be very exciting, especially the five storey villas, and will present the build team with a number of new challenges, which I’m really looking forward to meeting head-on.”
This year celebrating its 30th anniversary, the NHBC's ‘Pride in the Job’ is the only national competition to focus on the contribution the site manager makes in producing high quality new homes. Altogether 400 Quality Award winners were selected as first round winners, Shaune now goes through to the next heat to try for a ‘Seal of Excellence’ Award in the autumn. The ‘Pride in the Job’ campaign reaches its climax with the announcement of the four overall UK Supreme Award winners at a Gala Awards ceremony in January 2011.
