Environment - EcoHomes Rating

What are EcoHomes?

The Environmental Rating for Homes

EcoHomes is an independently verified rating based on authoritative research by the Building Research Establishment and sponsored by the NHBC. The ratings are expressed as improvements in design above standard building regulations. The rating system ranges from Pass, minor design improvements, through Good and Very Good to Excellent, exemplary environmental performance.

If you live in a "Very Good" rated EcoHome Crest Nicholson has addressed, to varying degrees, the environmental concerns for your particular area and included superior environmental design features that result in for example:

  • reduced energy and water use costs
  • reduction in energy derived carbon dioxide emissions*
  • reduction in domestic water use*
  • reduction in domestic waste sent to landfill*
  • reduced house maintenance costs
  • healthy, comfortable and flexible internal environment
  • access to local amenities and less dependence on the car
  • wildlife and habitat conservation and improvement
  • meeting or improving standards of sound insulation and lighting

The EcoHome rating certificate usually applies to all house types in a given development phase. Crest Nicholson has publicly committed to achieving a minimum ‘Good’ Ecohomes rating and aspires to 'Very Good and 'Excellent' ratings.
