Housebuilder Saddles Up for Local Charity Event

Housebuilder Saddles Up for Local Charity Event

Popular garden village development Upper Longcross by Crest Nicholson is saddling up to sponsor a charity horse ride on Chobham Common on the 22nd October.

The event will be organised by Quest RDA, a registered charity based in Chobham affiliated with national charity, Riding for the Disabled Association. Quest RDA provides horse riding for people of all ages from across Surrey and parts of Berkshire who have disabilities or special needs.

Quest RDA’s Sponsored Ride is a major fundraising event in the charity’s calendar and an annual highlight for riders in the vicinity. The event starts and finishes at the Bisley and Sandown Chase Pony Club field on Dunstall Green, from where three different trails will snake through Chobam Common (2, 5 and 12 miles long) allowing riders of all abilities to participate. There will also be activities at the Pony Club field including clear round show jumping, cross country, handy pony plus a tombola, second hand tack sale and homemade cake stall, all proceeds going directly to the fund-raising efforts.

Coming soon after the release of stunning new five bedroom homes at Upper Longcross, Crest Nicholson’s sponsorship of the charity horse ride will help Quest RDA meet its running costs, which will allow Quest to continue its good work and potentially enable the charity to purchase more ponies which will hopefully allow more riders to directly benefit from the charity.

Chairman of Quest RDA, Julie Jones said: “Every day we witness how much our riders benefit through their association with Quest RDA. There are six key areas where positive change is notably marked with improved: communication; confidence; relationships; physical improvement; horsemanship; and enjoyment of life. Riding really does make a big difference to the lives of our riders.

We truly recognise and value the contribution of our corporate sponsors and it is great to have Crest Nicholson on board. They have been really supportive from the moment we approached them with our proposal and their support will make a tremendous difference to the success of this year’s ride. Everyone at Quest is eagerly anticipating the 22nd!”

Crest Nicholson Sales and Marketing Director, Marcus Evans, said: “It’s great to be involved with such a worthwhile charity doing really important work in the local community.

We’re very much looking to foster our own sense of community at Upper Longcross and there really is something for everyone at the development, which boasts a range of 1&2 bedroom apartments, 2,3,4 & 5 bedroom houses.”

Sophie Christiansen CBE, winner of three gold medals at the 2016 Paralympics and amongst the finalists of BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year 2016 has commented on the impact RDA has made on her own life: “Riding with the RDA has totally changed my life. Not only have I won Paralympic gold medals, but riding and sport have taught me skills to improve my daily life - I am more able and confident, allowing me to fulfil my potential in all areas of my life, including making friends, living independently and in employment.”

Crest Nicholson’s Upper Longcross garden village in Chertsey comprises an outstanding and highly sought-after collection of new-build homes. Nestled within mature woodland, with sustainable and contemporary living at its heart, Upper Longcross enhances Surrey’s natural landscape.
