In spite of recent reports stating that the UK property market remains muted*, Colin and Lydia List have recently sold their three-bedroom bungalow and purchased a new three-bedroom detached house at award-winning Crest Nicholson’s Cedars Park development in Stowmarket – all within two months.
Lydia List said: “We had been in our previous home for 34 years and had been thinking about moving home for a long time but we hadn’t got round to looking at anything. We had looked on the internet but couldn’t find anything suitable. We had originally only wanted to by another bungalow but then we decided we wanted a bit of a change and as soon as we saw the ‘Kennet’ house design at Cedars Park we knew it was the one for us.
“Colin and I came across the development on the internet late one evening and, as we were both keen to go and see, it we went to my daughter’s house, jumped in her car and drove to the development there and then. We peered through the windows of the show house and we just loved it – we knew at that stage that we wanted to buy a house here. The next morning, we were at the development waiting for the sales team to arrive so we could put a deposit down. It was the first and only house we looked at so it couldn’t have been much simpler.”
“The entire process was extremely easy and went very smoothly,” continues Lydia. “We sold our previous home and moved in within just a few weeks. We absolutely love our new home; it’s great being in a brand-new property. Nothing needs fixing and we didn’t need to do any decorating – we could just move straight in and get settled right away; we didn’t even need to paint anything. As a new house, everything is very economic and runs very well which will make a difference to our energy bills.
“Even though we were in an older three-bedroom bungalow before, there is so much more space here. The rooms are all quite a bit larger than in our previous home and there is a lot more storage here. You often hear that new homes are small and have no cupboard or storage space but that’s really not the case here. We even have a separate dressing room off the master bedroom which is brilliant. The layout is very clever and well-designed.
“As well as the interior, we also love our new garden. Our last garden was very big and it was a real nuisance maintaining it all the time; it took up a huge amount of our spare time. Our new garden is an ideal size for us. It’s big enough so that we can have friends and family over in the summer for barbeques without feeling cramped but it isn’t so big that we have to spend all our free time weeding the flowers beds and mowing the lawn. We now have far more free time to do other things, such as walking and fishing.”
Lydia concludes: “It’s not just the house we love but the development as a whole. Cedars Park is a lovely, very pretty development and is very neat and tidy. There is a great community atmosphere and all our neighbours are very friendly. Living here really exceeded our expectations; so much so that, when we went on our annual two week holiday in August, we couldn’t wait to come back!”
Homes currently available for sale at Cedars Park are within the exclusive ‘Willow Grove’ phase of just 20 homes of six different property styles. Each home has been designed for modern living with spacious open-plan kitchen/dining areas so buyers can really enjoy socialising or spending time with their family. Many homes benefit from French doors opening out to sizeable gardens and a number of the larger houses have attractive design features such as bay windows. Master bedrooms all boast ensuite bathrooms and some even have their own private dressing areas. The three storey townhouse design offers flexible living accommodation for buyers who have children or are looking to work from home.
Cedars Park has grown into a lively community with its own local amenities, all of which is surrounded by beautiful Suffolk countryside.
