The Village Centre and Community Facility at Crest Nicholson’s Cedars Park development in Stowmarket have been awarded planning approval. The new phases will comprise 37 one and two-bedroom apartments and 172 two, three and four-bedroom town, semi-detached and detached houses, as well as three commercial units. The commercial use of the Village Centre includes plans for shops, offices and business units.
The Village Centre and Community Facility, which features a central area of open space and a football pitch, will provide a green heart to Cedars Park, creating a distinct sense of space and openness to the site. The infrastructure of the development has been adapted to accommodate the new phase with associated roads, footpaths and car parking. The cycle routes connect together to lead to the Village Centre, Community Facility and Cedars Park Primary School, which surround the central area of public open space.
Building work is due to commence later this year, with completion of all phases due in 2017.
James Moody, Managing Director for Crest Nicholson, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded planning approval for this important element of Cedars Park. The character of Cedars Park has evolved considerably since we first started building here over ten years ago and the new Village Centre and Community Facility will provide a focus and sense of place to the development. The central village green will provide an ideal space for families to enjoy the summer months and it will also give the development an increased sense of open space. The commercial units will further ensure Cedars Park is not just a development of homes, but a community.
“The design of the new homes and commercial spaces will complement the existing properties. A mixture of traditional materials and traditional building forms have been used throughout the development and will continue to be used through the site’s creation. The development’s design forms a modern interpretation of the distinctive Suffolk vernacular, highlighted by a layout that echoes the form of a village street. We are very excited about the new phase at Cedars Park and look forward to bringing it to fruition.”
Willow Grove is the current phase at Cedars Park, which comprises just 20 three and four-bedroom detached and semi-detached houses in six different designs. Homes have been designed for modern living with spacious open-plan kitchen/dining areas so buyers can really enjoy socialising or spending time with their family. Many homes benefit from French doors opening out to sizeable gardens and a number of the larger houses have attractive design features such as bay windows. Master bedrooms all boast ensuite bathrooms and some even have their own private dressing areas. The three storey townhouse design offers flexible living accommodation for buyers who have children or are looking to work from home.
Cedars Park has grown into a lively community with its own local amenities, all of which is surrounded by beautiful Suffolk countryside. The development is ideal for commuters with families as they have a straightforward journey to London yet have all the lifestyle benefits of living in the countryside for relaxing weekends at home with the family.”
