Welcome to our 2010 Sustainability Report
The tangible outcome of our business approach is a high-quality development that successfully balances economic, environmental and social considerations to deliver an enduring contribution to the public realm and people's quality of life.
Crest Nicholson has continued to embed sustainability principles and practices into our business, and we are committed to aligning our sustainability strategy even more comprehensively to deliver commercial success.
We have put the customer at the heart of this sustainability journey, to realise the benefits of innovative, low-carbon, sustainable homes in practice. We continue to grow our expertise through comprehensive participation in the Technology Strategy Board-funded AIMC4 research project, and our new programme of Building Performance Evaluation.
Delivering excellence in customer service is fundamental and, for the second year running, we achieved a five-star rating in the HBF independent survey of customer satisfaction.
Low-carbon development forms just one part of providing desirable, sustainable communities, and in 2010, we were delighted to receive two further Building for Life Gold Standards and Awards, bringing the total to eight.
The contribution of our employees is vital to our success and the exemplary professionalism of our people in this difficult year is fully appreciated. We have made it a priority to invest in retaining and developing skills in readiness for the economic upturn. The health, safety and wellbeing of staff and contractors - and everyone who comes into contact with Crest Nicholson - is of paramount importance, and in 2010, we continued a positive trend by further reducing accidents and injuries in our operations.
I am delighted to present our progress in this report, which includes an open discussion of our strategy and the challenges we face. We welcome your feedback and comments.
