Our performance

Incidents and injuries

We reported 12 incidents to the HSE in 2009, down from 23 in 2008 - a reduction of 48%. Our Annual Injury Incidence Rate (AIIR) also decreased 10% from 923 in 2008 to 832 in 2009.

The total number of incidents recorded fell significantly for the second successive year, down by 58% from 120 in 2008 to 50 in 2009. The average number employed (including contractors) also declined by 42% from 2,490 last year to 1,443 in 2009 – in itself a cause of stress to the remaining employees.

Annual Injury Incidence Rate (AIIR)

We attribute this continued improvement to our strong focus on robust safety management procedures and standards, improved monitoring, training and embedding a safety culture including proactive engagement with managers and directors.

We incurred zero prosecutions, fines, prohibition or improvement notices. Once again, no ill-health incidents occurred, and no Dangerous Occurrences were reported. One complaint was made to the HSE. This was fully investigated by Crest Nicholson, and no variances from safe practice were found on the site. The HSE were content with the investigation and the findings.
